@CarlLange I think Jan Poeschko demoed this for something a few years back. I definitely agree it's cool, but I was hoping it'd be only a transition step to getting proper renders of .nb files in Git repos

.nb is quite a poor format for source control as it is, IMO. I think it would be better as blobs rather than trying to diff the raw notebook markup

I remember SW saying they were trying to get Github to add rendering in a livestream probably 2 years ago, but I guess they've not made it there yet

I initially thought the change might be some kind of super-high-effort spam, since the short URLs could go anywhere. But apparently legit. Maybe someone's running a scraper to find repos full of .nbs :)

@b3m2a1 Yeah, it would surprise me a little if Github were happy basically loading an iframe from a third-party to render a file. Everything else they have appears to be a renderer served by them.

I must look at what's been done in that regard though, maybe some more effort has been made for notebook -> html, for instance. I've been writing a report for the last few weeks but at the end of the day I still do the actual writing in org-mode and export that to html, and just use embedded plots and so on (using EmbedCode etc) from the notebooks. It's a shame because I think .nb would be a great way to consume the report, with interactivity etc, but it's not programmatically expressive enough.

Styling, hide/show footnotes, etc etc. Lots of stuff a lot easier with other options when you want to go beyond exactly a notebook.

I think you do want a weighted adjacency graph, but really it looks more like you have a weighted GridGraph. If all you want to do is plot it, look into the various GraphLayout options until you find the one that gives a close-enough reproduction of what you care about.
