I have a question regarding how to solve piecewise functions of two variables f(x, y) = z. The variables x, y, z are constrained to integers. Mathematica seems to be able to solve for x, y when given y without the need to iterate through all possible x, y values. Is this a question for Mathematica StackExchange or Mathematics StackExchange? I'm interested in the technique in solving these equations, and also how Mathematica solves it.

@WeavingBird1917 If you are interested in how Mathematica solves it then it sounds like it is reasonable to ask here.

Ok thank you!

The editor is mistakenly identifying multiline mathjax code as unformatted code, not letting you submit it, not sure if this is as intended. Able to surpass it by indenting the multiline block, but had me confused for a while.

@ChrisK Would you like to send me an email, so that I have your address?

@halirutan will do

@ChrisK Cool.

In[33]:= $VersionNumber

Out[33]= 12.

In[31]:= MatchQ[
Chemistry`Private`MoleculePlotDump`labelGraphics[{1,
Subscript["C", 1], "bob"}],
{__FilledCurve}]

Out[31]= True
just leaving that here

@JasonB. digging into what you did this is a nice addition in 12!
ToExpression@First@MathLink`CallFrontEnd@
   FrontEnd`ExportPacket[BoxData[SubscriptBox["asd", 1]], "InputForm", "Outlines" -> True]
(well I assume it's an addition, but with the FE who knows what's existed and what hasn't)

I thought you would like it - I couldn't stand trying to place text inside a graphics. So using this you know exactly where it goes
It doesn't seem to work the same in 11.3, so they must have added it for something or other (certainly not for my usage)
