the notebook interface in 11.x on my windows 10 is just so unbelievably slow. after showing like 3 plots, i get delays of multiple seconds just entering numbers
is this just he way it's supposed to be?

Actually it's definitely a 11.3 regression. very frustrating.

Suppose I wanted to extract author affiliations from arxiv papers. I can find the papers using for example arXiv = ServiceConnect["ArXiv"]; and then paper = arXiv["Search", {"ID" -> "1801.00424"}], but how to continue from here? Or is this even a good approach?
Guess it gets tricky if it's not included as metadata, due to one author having possibly multiple affiliations and multiple formats the pre-prints can have..

@ManuelOdendahl One of the issues with the FE is that it does not decouple editing from other dynamic features. For instance take this simple line
Dynamic[Refresh[Pause[1]; DateString[], UpdateInterval -> .5]]
As long as the dynamic output cell is visible, it renders the complete FE unusable. Sloppy typing, selecting, mouse interactions. Everything is affected.

`TransformedDistribution[a, {a \[Distributed] BernoulliDistribution[a]}]`
Am I awfully wrong if I feel the result is problematic at least in one way? That is, no warning, and a naked formal parameter?

@kirma You're not wrong at all. Using PDF, "RandomVariate, and Expectation` gives nonsense output on the resulting distribution (with or without assigning a value to a).

@hal
@halirutan (Manuel here) I notified wolfram support. It's a drastic regression from 11.2, making 11.3 actually unusable
not an issue on mac at all, and mac 11.3 is way snappier than windows 11.2

It's no secret SW uses Mma on Mac... :I
