@acl yes, I seemed to have confused the two of you. :)

Hello, I'm back in Sydney. Didn't realise I'd forgotten to "leave" the chat room on my computer here at home while it slept.
Countdown to 1000 users, everyone :)

I must say that this site has been a corrupting influence on me. The rewrite of the code that required this monstrosity is at once more terse, general, bullet-proof, simpler, and easier to read. Thank you all.

@Verbeia we don't have 1000 users, but we do have a 1000th user: mathematica.stackexchange.com/users/1000/episanty

I have posted a somewhat open question, here: mathematica.stackexchange.com/questions/4246/…
it's not for lack of trying, but I don't really know how to attack the problem
please comment below it if you find it's too "open"

George Mills is 1000th registered or I think active unregistered) user! And our traffic is up again

@Verbeia duh, I just found out and was about to post it there!
traffic up is good news, I think that will drive all the other statistics

@Verbeia turns out episanty is our 1000th registered user :P

@verbeia @chm Does the ID number count the number of users as well?
@Fx @R.M I've asked the stats mods whether they'd like to have the question. Mo response so far. Wouldn't it also be something for math?

CHM
@SjoerdCdeVries I'd think so...

F'x
@SjoerdCdeVries math has quite broad scope, so probably yes

@chm userid includes unregistered users plus some who have since been merged, so it's not accurate

9:15 PM
@Verbeia So, how do you find out who's the 1000th user?

CHM
@Verbeia ok thanks

@SjoerdCdeVries regarding this one, I thought was to be used only for bugs confirmed by W support? or is it just a misunderstanding on my part?
@SjoerdCdeVries you look at who has the highest ID when the sidebar says 1000 users; that was George Mills

@Fx There weren't that strong opinions about it. I'd prefer WRI to confirm it, but they didn't jump in and its clearly a bug. Have been testing it for some time now.

F'x
@SjoerdCdeVries no problems with me, of course; I'm just trying to confirm (or infirm) my current understanding…

@Fx' Memory leaks are nasty bugs, and I hope that its presence on our bug list gives it some precedence. There seem to be more related bugs.
As to the bugs tag. It feels a bit arbitrary, I agree with you on that.
