@C.E. AFAIK you have some experience with web and stuff. Do you see any reason why a GitHub feed shouldn't work when I put it into the feeds of the IntelliJ room?
I used for instance this here
and there is a small SE post about this here. Any ideas?

@halirutan Because of PackageData I also have experience with writing a script that turns raw data into an RSS feed that works with the SE chat rooms. SE is very picky about details. First of all if your RSS doesn't validate then it won't read it, even though other RSS readers read it. But this is not the case here, because your feed validates. Secondly, and this is the reason why the feed didn't work for over a month this summer IIRC, I believe that it uses the guid field.
As I remember it I changed the guid field, it stopped working, and then I changed it back to what it was before and it started working again. This could be a problem because your feed doesn't have a guid field. SE might use it I think to distinguish between which posts are new and which aren't when it loads the RSS feed.
I know that there is an id field in the feed, but as I know from experience that the SE script can be picky, I wonder if maybe it requires specifically a guid field. It also doesn't have the description field which is posted along with the link in chat rooms, but I don't know if that can break it or if it just won't have a description when it's posted to the chat room. I think the latter.

@Searke Doesn't really matter anymore, after I found the paclet manager source files, I think I figured out most of what is practically relevant.

@Kuba So did you learn anything new from this post at all or were you already familiar with most of it through reading the sources?

2:37 PM
@Szabolcs I only knew about the front end extension and all your recent posts ale of great value for me. I didn't have time to read sources. Well maybe I could have found a little but I decided I will not now since I need stuff done and I already have to handle some complex deployment/updating scheme, don't want to test where PacletManager fails there additionaly. Was going to go back to that for less complex package but you were faster.

@C.E. This means I can only ask the SE staff if they can have a look at it? Because I cannot change the feed coming from GitHub.

Q: GitHub ATOM feeds for new releases or commits don't work in chat

halirutanGitHub provides Atom Feeds for various kinds of things like commits, releases, pull requests, etc. For a chat-room that is specifically dedicated to software, like our chat-room for the Mathematica Plugin for IntelliJ, it would be extremely helpful if we could use those feeds to announce new rele...
