are you here @J.M.?
I thought it was strange that the function was stamped "Experimental" in the docs. I haven't seen that before but have not rigorously checked all new functions. Are there others like this? Previously experimental functions were found in the experimental add on
@MikeHoneychurch Thus far, I've only seen FindFormula[] and DistanceMatrix[] having that mark; I'm sure there are others.
@laudiacay You should just leave the questions, and then we'll decide if they're silly or not. :)

@MikeHoneychurch Check EntityList[EntityClass["WolframLanguageSymbol", "UnderDevelopment"]]
1:16 AM
One can use `EntityProperty["WolframLanguageSymbol", "URL"] /@
EntityList[EntityClass["WolframLanguageSymbol", "UnderDevelopment"]]` to get a list of links to the documentation for all 25 functions.

And for a quick overview

Q: Dynamic Epicycles

CraigThe following code is meant to create a dynamic graphic of epicycles. Clear["Global`*"] T1=3; T2=2; a0=4; a1=2; k0=(2*Pi)/T2; k1=(2*[Pi])/T1; z0=a0*E^(I*k0*t); z1=a1*E^(I*k1*t); z2=z0+z1; z3=z0+z1+z2; z4=z0+z1+z2+z3; z5=z0+z1+z2+z3+z4; ptsList={{0,0},{Re[N[z0]],Im[N[z0]]},{Re[N[z1]],Im[N[z1]]},...

I made it a Q&A
Q: List of symbols marked [[EXPERIMENTAL]] in the documentation

Karsten 7.Some of the built-in Wolfram Language symbols are marked as [[EXPERIMENTAL]] in the documentation. For example [Echo] How can I get a list of all the symbols marked as [[EXPERIMENTAL]]? (This question is inspired by this chat message made by Mike Honeychurch.)

I wish someone from the Mathematica community was up for election on stackoverflow. Although it is nice having our own site I have a feeling if all the rep here was taken to stackoverflow someone might qualify and make it this far for diamond moderator. As a side note I did a quick search & non of the current members have used the mathematica tag or posted a question or answer mathematiac.se.

Hi, I'm looking for a scanned text image optimizer. Not for a better OCR (that is also needed... but that will arrive one day), but for the image pre-processing:
-> binarize (and alternatively, for reading the original media instead of the OCR text, a smart reduction of levels, like a Local ColorQuantize);
-> un-warp;
-> un-skew;
-> un-wrinkle;
-> etc.
Any ideas of existing tools?
Can a request for such function be posted as a question? It's more of a development, but what do you think?
5:38 PM
There are a lot of articles on such algorithms. For instance, I just came across this one: cennser.org/IJCVSP/finalPaper/030101.pdf. But I image that there are a lot of existing libraries that could eventually be called from Mathematica, for some of the tasks.
(the above article is for actual OCR reading, and not specifically for image processing)
@William, what exactly's the point?
5:56 PM
@J.M. We have four diamond moderators here(I was a little confused early - to my knowledge) so its not a big deal really.

@anderstood Another relevant post, if I'm following the thread correctly: mathematica.stackexchange.com/questions/98924/…

Shouldn't this be CW?
Q: Is Mathematica worth it for me?

TreFoxI'm 13 years old and in 7th grade. I'm currently in Algebra 1, and I have fallen in love with both math and programming. When I came upon Mathematica, it was awesome. My two favorite things fused into one, easy to read and understand, programming language. Immediately I had my pencil in hand, re...

@halirutan was there a function to convert a cell to input form text?
Q: How do I extract the contents of a selected cell as plain text?

HeikeMy aim is to extract the contents of an Input cells as plain text. Ideally I would like to be able to select one or more Input cells and press a button which would then extract the text from these cells as a string and assign it to a variable. However, this turns out to be harder than it seems (t...

@R.M. I've been there and even though I couldn't find it -.-
@R.M. Thanks! :)
10:42 PM
@Kuba There you have it. Btw, I haven't forget your mail, but currently I have a lot of other things to care about.
@halirutan no worries, so do I :) Are you going to come to Berlin with a lecture as year ago?
@Kuba Hmm, don't know. Is there an M-day this year?
@halirutan I met Mr Farcas and he asked me if I want to come so I suppose so :P
@Kuba Is there an official announcement somewhere?
@halirutan I don't know. But he was talking something about January/February so it's shifted.
Or I missed something
10:47 PM
@Kuba Yeah, that sounds like a plan. Usually we have some month between announcement and event.
@halirutan I will tell you when I find something new
@Kuba Actually, I was talking to Harry last week and I'll probably talk to him soon. So I'll do the same. As soon as I hear something, I let you know.
@halirutan ok
