@Kuba MathMF has always worked very well for me

@Fonseca If you have some trick to economise memory, I'm interested. One could imagine for example to compress each frame (maybe in jpeg), and decompress on the fly while watching the video. But I don't know if the decompression is quick enough.

Can someone help me out here? I must be blind or stupid or, most likely both. Assume you have a StringExpression like DigitCharacter. Now,
StringMatchQ["1", DigitCharacter]
matches exactly one number.
StringMatchQ["112", DigitCharacter ..]
matches one or many digits
StringMatchQ["", DigitCharacter ...]
matches zero, one or many digits.
The last two examples refer to the + and the * operator of regular expressions. Where on earth is the ? operator? Don't tell me I have to use
StringMatchQ["1", DigitCharacter | ""]
all the time.

@halirutan AFAIK there is no syntactic sugar for it, but there is RepeatedNull[DigitCharacter, 1]

@C.E. That's at least something. Although it's not converted to \d+ but to \d{0,1}. Thanks.

Wow I had never really used multi-value extract but it is powerful: mathematica.stackexchange.com/a/164411/38205

@andre @P.Fonseca thanks, and yes, I didn't know that. I simply didn't need that so far.
@JasonB. @b3m2a1 those previews do not seem to be HD or anything close. I think it is possible to just use ListAnimate for that.

Is there any way to control the pool of sub-kernels that a ParallelSubmit will run on?

@C.E. Thanks again for your hint earlier. It helped a lot and I was able to come up with part 2 of my series

Q: Mathematica lexer: Numbers

halirutanThis is a follow-up question to Mathematica lexer: Symbols and UTF-8 and this it is about numbers. In Mathematica, we have a large number of ways to input numbers. They can contain a notation for the base, precision, accuracy, a scientific form *^12, or a combination of them. I crafted a simple ...

Is there a way to get the front-end to autocomplete properties for entities that are referenced by a variable?
