@JimBaldwin You are just awesome. Since you used a VonMisesDistribution, I looked up the wrapped normal distribution and the estimations of the parameters are really simple, once you transform everything to complex numbers. What can I say, thank you
It is precisely what I had hoped for.

Has anyone experience using Lightweight Grid Manager?
I'd like to use the Nvidia GPU on a remote machine for training CNNs btw.

Any comments or foreseen problems with this? mathematica.stackexchange.com/a/139140/12

@Mr.Wizard No, because then you lose all other properties. (@JasonB)
@JasonB When I asked WRI support a while ago, they suggested the following:

@Szabolcs I really like the look of that, thanks.

@Szabolcs nothing follows the following; I'm still waiting! ;-)
@halirutan I don't know what that is but I suspect this should be a Q&A. Would you consider posting it for the benefit of all if you have not?

@Mr.Wizard Oops ... @JasonB
g = Graph[{Property[1, VertexLabels -> "hello"], 2, 3}, {1 -> 2,
   2 -> 3}, VertexLabels -> "Name",
  VertexCoordinates -> {{0, 0}, {0, 1}, {1, 1}}]

 g2 = Graph[VertexList[g], EdgeList[g],
  Sequence[Options[g] /.
    HoldPattern[VertexCoordinates -> _] ->
     VertexCoordinates -> Automatic]]

folks, anyone here running linux?

5:04 PM
@EmilioPisanty Yes.

@halirutan Can you test CopyToClipboard["hello"] and then paste into a text editor?

@EmilioPisanty I have already reported it as it doesn't work in the prerelease as well :)

@halirutan ah

Let me give you the official response:

weirdly, if I run Paste[] on mma, it does get onto the clipboard

Patrick,

Thank you for the follow up.

To hopefully nip the issue at the bud, it looks like we are tentatively planning to address the issue you presented in CopyToClipboard.nb. I'd like to emphasize that this is tentative, but I would expect it to happen. I am hopeful that the changes we make directly to the CopyToClipboard function will eliminate your need for your custom function.

@halirutan ok, fair enough

@EmilioPisanty There are several issues with this function.
You can look at NotebookGet@ClipboardNotebook[] to see what's on you clipboard.
@EmilioPisanty If you need a "Copy" function, you can use something different:
copy[text_] := Module[{nb}, nb = NotebookCreate[Visible -> False];
  NotebookWrite[nb, Cell[text, "Input"]];
  SelectionMove[nb, All, Notebook];
  FrontEndTokenExecute[nb, "Copy"];
  NotebookClose[nb];]

@halirutan hmmmm. I've got an alternate running on xclip, I think I'll leave it at that.
it's not mission-critical
thanks for the pointer =)

@EmilioPisanty Yep, OK. The one above is something that works on all systems down to Mathematica version 7
We use it in the SE Uploader for some years now.
So it is definitely thoroughly tested :)
@Mr.Wizard Unfortunately, I believed that my question doesn't fit very well on our site. Therefore, I asked on math.SE. But while we are at it, please everyone go over there and give Jim an upvote.

Q: Applied math: analyse cell orientations

halirutanI'm analyzing the orientation of cells and I stumbled over a peculiarity when I try to make a statement about the main direction of the cells and how many cells are oriented along this main direction. Let me give an example that shows a small part of a fluorescence image First, note that I'm n...

Q: Gold-badge holders and moderators can now edit duplicate links

Shog9As of a few minutes ago, if you have a gold tag-badge for a tag associated with a question that's been closed as a duplicate, you can edit the duplicate links to replace, add, remove or re-arrange them: These changes are tracked in PostHistory to allow anyone to detect abuse, while the res...

Finally! Now I can stop begging people to cast specific duplicate votes to get a certain question marked as a duplicate of multiple originals.

@yode why did you delete the 'unevaluated' topic?

@Kuba The comment lead to a unhappy discussion and it is seem that cannot provide any usefull information to other..
And it indeed is a duplicated topic(of course you have hinted those posts cannot be processed by deletion)
@Kuba This is my deletion list recently.Unless it is necessary, I will not easily delete the existed post.Trust me,please.

9:59 PM
@yode sure, just asking. But remember that there is no need to delete duplicate posts. The more duplicates the more likely future readers will find the answer.

10:16 PM
@yode I understand you. Sometimes the "lazy" part is due to the different styles of Chinese and English language. Chinese tends to be implicit and concise while English tends to be more explicit. I learn this when I first read an English textbook of quantum mechanics at college. The English textbook is much easier to read than the Chinese one because everything is more explicit.

Would it be possible to migrate this post stackoverflow.com/questions/6116839/…
after 6 years, I still think that Mathematica is a little weak in this front
FindFormula was promising, but for now, it looks extremely unfinished.
Evolved analytics "package" looks very interesting, but way out of my pockets limit.
if the migration of the post can bring a little of attention to the subject, I'll be very happy!
