According to our records, you own a Grizzly G0771 10" Hybrid Table Saw.

We recently discovered that the motor pulley on this saw has an over-sized bore, which may prevent the pulley from securing properly to the motor shaft.

During saw operation, an improperly secured motor pulley and its machine key can come off the motor shaft and be thrown with great speed by the rotational force of the motor. If this happens, there is a small chance that the machine key can be ejected through the table opening and strike the operator or bystanders.

@PeterGrace At least it sounds like an easy fix. Now I just wonder how soon "soon" is.

Ouch, that sounds just as unpleasant as having a machine key ejected at your face.

Yeah, I blew 3 discs in 2007 and it occasionally re-flares-up

@rob All our stats are significantly higher than gamification's were. More avid users, 3x the total users, nearly double the answers/question, more than 15x the visits per day. I wouldn't think they would be good comparison for us here.

@rob I would not buy jack stands from HF, but I did buy an engine hoist and it worked just great the 1 time I've used it...

I used to buy lots of MasterCraft. I'm starting to get serious with my crafting so considering higher quality tools.

@Matt With some tools it's actually beneficial to have multiples, so buying a bargain brand up front in those cases isn't detrimental, especially if you'd otherwise have to postpone gaining experience--I wish I had realized this much sooner.

@rob Buying one set of tools is hard enough some times.

I have 3 drills of varying quality and I love them all

@FreeMan I don't recall what our stats were after only 20 days...but I think at least we were hitting a solid 5-10 questions a day for a while in the beginning.

@Matt I was given a B&D 12V Li-ion drill and I do use it, but the 2-handed chuck and wimpy motor make it inadequate enough that I wouldn't recommend it to anyone as their first cordless drill for woodworking. But my biggest problem with it right now is that I can't figure out where I hid the charger!

@PeterGrace I've learned it's not wise to say definitively that one table saw treatment is better than another. :D I recommend whatever reduces friction on your saw table, inhibits rust, and doesn't transfer onto your workpieces to cause finishing problems.

just opening the package I got a nasty cut

those new carbide blades are hella sharp.

But, construction lumber will never have a more baby-bottom-smooth end-grain than it will off that blade.

so I guess if you use a dado set every day, it pays to have the best.

For me, I break out the dado set once every blue moon

true, I've always managed with my router. That is why I don't have any dado sets

I'm a bit bummed, I went down to the shop this morning to measure and see if my Bosch RA1811 table was the right size to mount to my new grizzly tablesaw. Sadly, doesn't fit in the fence channel without some fenagling.

I may yet figure out a way to mount it but it was a bummer.

@PeterGrace most of my gripes have to do with the sloppy tolerances and how badly the features are implemented on that router table.

I missed out on the dado set talk...I bought a used 6" Freud dado set, never used it, then bought a used 8" Amana set because the 6" isn't recommended for my saw.

So now I have 1 dado set that I don't use (need to put it on CL) and 1 that I rarely use (too lazy to swap blades...I need another table saw!)
