@Lix I'll deny everything. ;P
...also: Why the hell would you volunteer to moderate SO? That place is a madhouse.
Moderating SE 2.0 sites is quite different. We handle 5-10 flags per day, and then revert back to user mode and contribute to the site normally, and have fun. SO mods are flag eating machines with little time to do anything else.

@YannisRizos where in the rulebook is the 2+ tag rule for meta?

@WorldEngineer It's common sense, it doesn't have to be in a rule book.
[discussion] alone doesn't say absolutely nothing at all about the question. Try searching for a [discussion] six months after it was posted, and you'll understand why at least one more tag is essential.

@WorldEngineer btw, I obviously won't suspend anyone for not adding a second tag, the comment wasn't exactly serious. I had a few tags open retagging Meta questions, and decided to post a comment in one. Picked yours randomly.
I barked at Thomas and maple_shaft a while back for doing the same thing...

user20683
@YannisRizos I'll remember to do so in the future. It was an extension of my "use as few tags as necessary" philosophy, since questions with loads of tags...well...they tend to suck.

@WorldEngineer On Meta, there's the quirk of having to use at least one of the four required tags. But all four are Meta tags, and thus useless on their own.

@YannisRizos yeah

The [discussion] tag especially is like the [homework] tag on the main site.

always more to learn

Our new mod, whoever that might be, will have to go through Meta and read (or re-read) all questions regarding the site's scope. It would be helpful if at least the important ones are tagged with [on-topic-definition] or [scope].

@Yannis Rizos: So are you saying that SO needs more "hands" to help with the flags?

@JimG. There's an election starting in a few hours, four positions available.

Q: On meta sites, require at least one non-required tag

badpA question with just a required tag isn't really a tagged question. discussion doesn't really explain what topics the discussion is about... it's basically a meta tag. A useful meta tag, but quite not enough tagging. Whenever I see a meta question with just the one tag on Meta Gaming, I always t...

Q: List of algorithms

lordsangramI'm looking for a comprehensive list of algorithms so that i can implement them in java and then i could use those implementations whenever i need. But i also want to be updated with recently published algorithms. I guess there is always IEEE, but i'm not sure of the subscription part, i don't kn...

Given the recent number of "what hardware (in particular keyboard)" questions, should hardware be put in the FAQ as to a what not to ask about?

Ohh... nasty hidden possible bug. if(foo && bar & qux) -- the single ampersand. It doesn't short circuit if bar is false, but it does if foo is false.

We’ve been busy hiring more of the most talented people on the planet! Three cheers for the newest employees at Stack Exchange:

Max Horstmann, Web Developer (Careers 2.0)

New York

Max joins Stack Exchange as a developer on the Careers team. Originally from Denzlingen, Germany, he previously worked on the Windows team at Microsoft. On a recent one-year career break, he and his wife had a chance to travel to glaciers in South America, deserts in the Middle East, and jungles in Southeast Asia. His mission for the next five years is to sort all the pictures taken on this trip, write a few more mobile apps, and find out which German bar in New York City plays the best Blasmusik. …

What in the world will mods do if he's not flagging?

> Andrew Barber... that name sounds vaguely familiar. Where have I seen it before? ;) Seriously, giving you a diamond just so you'd stop flagging stuff yourself would be a huge reduction in our work load. Having you process other people's flags would just be a nice bonus. Good luck! – Bill the Lizard ♦
