@dynamic That user looks to be non-existent...I wonder why that could be...

@WorldEngineer Two possibilities, either the account was deleted (by request or by a mod) or merged with another one.

10:28 AM
@maple_shaft that makes good sense: no objections against delaying removal from me

poor serial voter would better ask me before running into this, I'd help them understand that it ain't that easy :)

1:47 PM
@gnat A few days ago I noticed another serial downvoting incident on one of our regulars' profile by accident (I was looking for one of their answers). The downvoting had already been reversed thus I could find out who the downvoter was (it's logged after the script runs) but since the targeted user opted to not bring this to our attention themselves and let the script do it's thing I couldn't do much about it.
If you want us to look further into it, and possibly dispense candy, please flag one of your posts after the script runs, letting us know (officially) that you were serially downvoted.

2:16 PM
@YannisRizos thanks for advice. That's an interesting option, I will consider it. Initially I was going to ignore but upon thinking on your comment, there may be a value in doing as you suggest

3:02 PM
@gnat Just to not be misunderstood: Since you brought this up in a public space, it kinda counts as a moderator flag (at least one mod was notified of the issue, and that's all flags are really), I don't really have to wait for you to flag one of your posts before I take action. Still, I prefer a "by the books" approach when it comes to voting irregularities, and also without a flag I may completely forget about this by the time the script runs.

3:16 PM
@YannisRizos I see. Thanks - that's quite educative. I plan to flag after reversal script runs

@YannisRizos: Is @steve bennett a @Goma clone? I just noticed two of his questions and they seem spammy.

@JimG. Quite possibly (IPs and question style match), which is why I didn't bother to comment and deleted both questions shortly after I closed them.
I can't be 100% certain obviously (or I would just merge the accounts), but I won't be wasting any of my time with this one, if he continues posting crap, I'll just close and delete.

Love the "One does not simply suspend goma" pic. Hilarious

@JimmyHoffa Well, I've just suspended the master account for five years. I know it's futile, but it felt good...

9:42 PM
@YannisRizos The irony of it all is that kind of persistence and the fact that he is clearly making it all a game at this point (to him) are two attributes I would apply to the eventuality of a good engineer. He puzzles over how to inflict the ridiculousness he does around here even if it's as shallow as coming up with the questions (or searching for them), and persisting in the face of obvious failure is something we've all been forced to do, to solve problems that seemed unsolvable
he's probably some young kid who in a decade will actually be a good programmer (and no longer an annoying little shite)

@JimmyHoffa He's been at it for 2 years, with 70+ known clones (the real number is probably over 100 at this point). I have no idea why someone would do something like that and for so long, it's such a huge waste of everyone's time (including his).

@YannisRizos many teenagers haven't anything to do save waste time, to be fair he's wasting his time like this rather than just playing quake like I did
He knows he is engaging you and many others in his efforts (he couldn't pull that off without being smart enough to know that), so it's an online multiplayer game. You guys are the opposing team :)

@JimmyHoffa Yes, at this point it's clear that he's just doing it to see if he'll manage to sneak in his crap and not get caught.

and you can't say he lacks persistence, how many developers have you known who just give up and go directly to the lowest-form hack they can when they can't come up with an elegant solution
persistence is ever important to being a good developer
impersistent engineers lead to inelegant systems with massive maintainability problems
Not that I'm justifying what he does or saying he shouldn't be banned with a capital Q (everything is more serious with a capital Q), just pointing out a likely future version of Goma and how ironic that is
he's like the kid who throws rocks at the neighbor girl then grows up and marries her

Actually this has been brought up several times in Goma related discussions, and I agree with you, his persistence is an excellent trait, but he really needs to focus in doing something productive.

9:56 PM
I'd make jokes about how productive teenagers ever are but I've worked almost full-time since I was 15 so I suppose he could be doing something better heh

@JimmyHoffa Right, and speaking as a member of "the opposing team", we can only hope that we have strength in numbers (and eyeballs).

@JimmyHoffa I don't think Goma is a teen... idk why but I don't think so

@Dynamic Ha, our resident teenager defending the honor of teenagers ;)
I must admit "teenager" is my first thought almost every time I spot someone being annoyingly foolish on the site, but that's unfair to you and quite a few other teenagers on Stack Exchange who I'd have no idea weren't adults if you hadn't put your age in your profiles.

@Yannis Just doing my duty :) but really, I see myself as somewhat persistent but I would've been working to get unbanned. this guys just kind of... odd
Sry for the poor typing... I'm on mobile.

@Dynamic whether or not he is a teen, I'm only attributing him that out of my own sense of hope. Teenagers still have time to grow and not be wankers anymore, when an adult's a wanker that's usually just how they're going to be forever, which would make Goma's behaviour just sad

10:11 PM
@Goma its sad even if he is a teen...
*is
Don't know y I put the @ lol
@Yannis was just looking at Politics.se
YYou're going for mod?

10:26 PM
@Dynamic Well, my nomination is there, so...

-1: Since when are TDD practices heavily dependent on databases? I thought that any TDD implementation must decouple the application from its database. Otherwise you're writhing integration tests. — Jim G. 1 min ago
@YannisRizos: If I could, I would vote for you and @Affable Geek. Of course, I can't, so that and $2.00 will buy you a cup of coffee.
