@MichaelT I don't necessarily disagree, but it is a useful artifact to know languages with an overarching stability if for no other reason than studying the effects that has had on them

that's ignoring the usefulness of knowing such a language existed in the event a use came up

When I first started using the site, it seemed like he agreed with the moderation.

@Dynamic agree; I didn't notice substantial changes either. This makes it most likely that something changed in his attitude towards these; you know as time goes by our understanding and point of view can change....

He has an interesting picture of state in his local state is evil but I think it's totally and completely misguided

He's complaining he had trouble implementing a language with local state that could go beyond the bounds of well..the local... in a performant way because he had to recompose it repeatedly, though this is a problem that has been solved by pure languages already which intelligently cache and share values in their implementation though not allowing the developer to do so

Not saying it's easy to implement the solution; I sure as hell couldn't do it, but it has been solved and there is a solution is all I'm saying

and his idea of a stateful substrate that we all live upon blindly ignores transactionality of global state that becomes ever important in our current multi-core distributed-programming models

@WorldEngineer if you want to read some blogs that brood on about high level stuff without sounding mostly like brain effing nonsense and being practical, might I suggest james-iry.blogspot.com/2009/08/… good article, really helped me out a while back in conceptualizing some things I was running into, plus the guys entire blog is actually really good (if terribly inactive)
