@Rachel No they closed it as not constructive... not the same thing...
@maple_shaft Hey! That notepad question is about what one random guy heard about another random guy... it's NT all the way, closed it as NARQ for its very speculative nature (two guys talking -> deep chasm between professions)
Did you made it in TL?

@YannisRizos Hrrm strange, I thought it was closed as off-topic earlier today. I must have been mistaken

@Rachel Hey ;) I was about to close this Meta question
Didn't delete the question, obviously, however I don't agree it should be re-opened. It's not a question that would be deleted anyway, if not part of a structured cleanup.
@Rachel Closed the Meta question as too localized, as it referred to the cleanup process that just ended.

@YannisRizos: About the contest... did you want to wait until all STCIs are done, or just ?

@Jae All.

Jae
@YannisRizos: Ok

@Jae I have another idea that might work, I'll ping you then and we can talk about it (in the contest room)

BTW, any updates on the clean up stuff?

@DipanMehta Haven't you noticed anything ;P We started closing career questions today... Check the front page.

Q: Structured Tag Cleanup: [software-engineering]

Yannis RizosWelcome to the second structured tag cleanup! Based on the voting in the call for proposals, the second round goes to the software-engineering tag, with 84 current questions. The tag has been renamed to stci-software-engineering, which should prevent people from adding any more questions to i...

ya. i saw closing some of it. I was actually not quite on line last few days

(second message for pinning purposes)

1:23 PM
oh - why Software engineering tag also clean up? I mean that is what the community about right?
I just took a glance - but i don't quite knew what is the criteria here.

Q: Structured Tag Cleanup — Call for proposals #1

Mark Trapp Possible Duplicate: Structured Tag Cleanup: [career] This is a call for proposals for the Structured Tag Cleanup Initiative. Provide one proposal per post A tag cleanup proposal is a tag, or a collection of highly related tags (e.g., tags all sharing the same stem) that needs to be d...

@DipanMehta There were three proposals that met the criteria, so... when we finish [software-engineering] we'll move to [software-development]

So the STCI- Career is now fully done?

Yes... We are going through closure candidates and closing right now... it will take us a couple of days to go through all of them.

ok. But after closing they will also get deleted or they will remain closed for longer term?

@DipanMehta Closed questions will be deleted at some point, yes... But not immediately.

1:37 PM
ok.

However they can still be salvage if someone finds a way to make them on topic
Typically we wait at least a couple of months, or longer for highly upvoted questions...

I saw the Software Eng. clean up but really i was not sure about exact criteria.

@DipanMehta exact criteria on what? there are 84 questions, that need the tag removed. If you remove the tag, you can also edit questions and answers to correct mistakes, however minor. You can also flag answers that you feel should be comments, or are of very low quality.

ok - unlike career case - most doesn't fall into only programmers sort of thing - but many listed are poor quality may be.
Are we keeping Project management out from P.SE ?

@DipanMehta For the closure candidates, each question I've put in the list has different problems. If you are certain it should be closed, vote to close. Otherwise, try to see what the problems are and improve it.
@DipanMehta Project management is on topic, if it's about methodologies that are almost unique to software developers, like agile methodologies.

1:43 PM
ok.

@DipanMehta And obviously, if a question is listed to be closed, and you can't find anything wrong with it, ask me here on chat... I might even be wrong ;)

There is another SE site - ProjectManagment - so again this might be like all programmers vs. all industry project management boundary would exists i suppose?

Q: Is there an official stance on software project management questions?

Thomas OwensI feel too many questions are being closed, voted to close, and people are being pointed toward Project Management inappropriately. PM.SE is still a beta site, and isn't doing stellar in the metrics. I think people are being too hasty, so here are a few points to consider: Software project mana...

@YannisRizos is this grammatically correct? Ο Θεός να σας ευλογεί και να σας κρατήσει ασφαλή. It would be directed at a woman.

@WorldEngineer How dare you, my mother was a saint!

user2334
I actually have no idea what you said.

Google Translate tells me it says "God bless you and keep you safe" (translate.google.com/?tl=el&q=undefined)
I'm not sure how badly you can mess up that phrase :)

@MarkTrapp Aren't you supposed to be playing at being Ed Crane now?

user20683
@Rachel that's how I got the phrase, I don't know Greek beyond a few words so I needed to check it and Yannis is the easiest Greek speaker that I know to get a hold of.

Jae
@YannisRizos: Ya, ping me any time and I'll get back to you ASAP (now isn't the greatest though...)

user20683
@MarkTrapp the notice in your profile is quite general :P

user2334
If I knew this many people read my profile I'd have sold advertising in it

user20683
@MarkTrapp I routinely read people's profiles to get context. Usually before I edit the hell out of their poor English.
