What do we think about questions where users refuse to use the appropriate result? Are those closable because of obstinance on the part of the asker, or is that something we generally just leave alone? Because yikes

Still, I wanted to ask whether somebody is aware of some other possible duplicate targets the could work here.

6:23 AM
I should explicitly mention that I have posted an answer to the question suggested as the duplicate target. (Although I am not sure whether this automatically means that I should abstain from voting to close as duplicate.)

@MartinSleziak I agree that those are all dealing with the same question and some amount of duplicate closures would be appropriate. I don't think having an answer at one of the duplicates implies you should abstain from voting to close as duplicate - explicitly noting your involvement is a good step, and having answered something can even be helpful later in organizing duplicates ("didn't I answer this question some time ago?").

@MartinSleziak I fully agree with @KReiser. It happens regularly that I remember that I answered a similar/identical question, and then vote to close as a duplicate. (It also happens sometimes that a search with Approach0 finds a question that I had answered, but forgotten about :)

@MartinR I see that you have already case close votes on two questions.
So I take it, that you haven't found something which would be a more suitable duplicate target, either.

@MartinSleziak Your suggested target has a comprehensive list of answers, and covers everything that is covered in the other threads, so that is a good choice IMO. (Interestingly, some people have posted identical solutions in different threads.)

Thanks for the response! I have added one close vote to another question. And one of them is closed by Community user - IIRC this means that the OP agreed with the duplicate.

@MartinSleziak Indeed, if you mouse over the community user's name in the "This question already has answers here:" box, you will see a text popup (like alt text) which states "This question's author approved a pending duplicate vote." (I imagine you knew this, but I did want to point out another source confirming it.)
Anyways, all of the duplicate closing for those questions is now taken care of.

@KReiser Without looking at the question (I am traveling at the moment, and barely online): if a question is of low quality, it can (and should) be closed. If it is not of low quality, it shouldn't be closed. If a user is being unhelpful, it suggests that the question is of low quality, but obstinance of the user (alone) is not a very good reason to close a question.
