Needs one more downvote for deletion Also note comment of answerer : I am under instruction to not reply, but it's a different comment to the one we usually see.

@BillDubuque The user still hasn't given up , though. See the last bunch of comments they left. I tried everything in that run of arguments : deflections, presses, replies, rephrasing, what not. The truth is that there IS a difference between the argument they presented, and the arguments where they talk about polynomials. They didn't get my point about polynomial abstraction, not even when I mentioned the general result, they didn't use the most general forms of the statements I asked them for...
... all that was offered was just more and more "examples" or apparently circular thinking coming good, and trying to justify their argument with it. I would have stood for none of that, and I literally repeated myself at 5 points across the conversation hoping they would understand the emphasis points. Anyway, the other answer on that thread has just one upvote now : it also needs to go if this one has gone.
In fact, the entire question still needs to go, given that it wasn't improved. You can make a case for the answers on the thread defending it, though, so I won't talk about this beyond that.

D - in particular because the "extended real line" is mentioned again , I cannot understand the advertising for this weird and utterly useless concept.
I accidently linked an answer, the question should be deleted.
two downvotes are needed to open it for deletion

Sorry, been off CURED for a few days @amWhy so I'll work on CURED tomorrow and write to you in the morning itself on what I find, because some interesting things did happen across these few days!

@TeresaLisbon No problem! Relax. We each do what we can!

Hello: Is there a way to retract a reopen vote like there is for close votes? I accidentally voted to reopen this question (math.stackexchange.com/questions/4178644/…) in the Review Queue without noticing that it had been marked as duplicate (I thought it was closed for lack of context and voted to reopen after I saw OP put in the work).

Q: Ability to retract reopen/delete votes

Naftali aka NealIt seems that now we can retract close votes but we cannot retract reopen votes or delete votes. I am trying to retract my reopen vote here but it does not allow me to. Can we have that ability?

@PrasunBiswas Please take more care to understand the reason for closure, before auto-clicking on "reopen".
@ThomasMarkov Thanks for the quick link to that post!

Btw, in that magic factorization thread I commented to the OP that they shouldn't accept an answer that uses magic rather than math. The answerer replied and objected and my comment magically disappeared. I find that magic just as disturbing, I might open a meta thread on the topic - since clearly one should be able to warn students of problems with answers they accept. What do others think?

@BillDubuque It's likely that it was removed by flagging. The problem is, while your comment targeted the answer, it's likely that the emphases on certain words hurt the answerer personally. I also noted that the answerer isn't a native English speaker, perhaps this could have some bearing. Certainly one should be able to warn users of problems with accepted answers, but that answer divided too much opinion as well, so maybe your comment was taken as a personal jab by too many people.
Either way, I'm just happy the conversation happened, because it means that we've got one user who will try to think twice about their answers.
