@amWhy: As someone who reads a lot of the bad posts, I have noticed that as well.

@RRL Thanks for commenting. I noticed a lot of posts in the close queue that had uncanny upvotes. I realize that answerers will often upvote any post they answer, even if poor. But after two weeks away, it just struck my as unsettling, the number of poor posts with unexplainable upvotes.

I suspect there are some users casting compensatory upvotes, or "pre-emptive" upvotes on posts they realize will likely be ill-received.
