Q: Compute the infinite product

Hashtag No nameI came across this question in the following form: Compute the following infinite product $$\left[\sin (x)\cos \left(\frac{x}{2}\right)\right]^{1/2}\cdot \left[\sin \left(\frac{x}{2}\right) \cos \left(\frac{x}{4}\right)\right]^{1/4}\cdot \left[\sin \left(\frac{x}{4}\right) \cos \left(\frac{x}{8...

Glancing at the revision history, the OP simply rewrites the question and there is no real context here.

@YuiToCheng Why are the only two choices “A tailor-made hint that takes into account all of the OP’s mathematical background” and “A full solution”? A third option: a general guide on how to get started. It’s done all the time. — gen-z ready to perish 8 mins ago
This is way too idealistic...

I cast a duplicate vote here but a better target might be the Universal Chord Theorem Q&A which was already mentioned in the comments.

@MartinR You voted to close this question as a duplicate. My own preference would be to provide the asker a link, but close the question itself for lacking context. The question is unlikely to be of any lasting value, thus my preference would be to close it so that Roomba can delete it after a while.
Do you have strong feelings about this, one way or the other?

@XanderHenderson If a question is a clear duplicate then I tend to VTC as such (often with a link to Approach0 to demonstrate how it was found). I have the impression (which may be wrong) that that is more likely to prevent the question from being answered than with a off-topic vote. But I know that this has been discussed controversially (e.g. here) and I do not feel strong about it.
I must admit that I wasn't aware that (as I understand it from here) questions closed as a duplicate are deleted in a year at the earliest – and leaving additional comments (“also found here, and here ...”) might prevent them from being deleted at all.

A: Closing a poor question as off-topic or as a duplicate?

Xander HendersonI am promoting my comments to an answer, as this came up again in CURED again today. My flowchart is as follows: Is the question of sufficient quality to keep on the site? Yes. Go to step 2. No. If a question is of low-quality, then vote-to-close for lack of quality (e.g. vote one of "needs...

@XanderHenderson For context, there has been some meta discussion of this post: math.meta.stackexchange.com/questions/31662/…
I'm making no claims about whether one should or should not vote to close this question (I'm not sure myself and prefer to keep my closed votes for other questions at the moment), but I thought the discussion may be helpful to others who are trying to decide.
