@BillDubuque: I can't figure out what "force factors into a" in this post means. Can you?

@user1729 Exactly; this is not the first time users are playing the system by saying "I can ..." or "I tried" with absolutely no evidence that they actually did. Sometimes there is even evidence that they didn't.

This is a clear duplicate; can we please get it closed before the close votes expire? In Cantor's diagonal argument how to interpret the precedence of comparing sets?‭ - Xaqron‭ 2019-11-29 16:56:25Z
I typically have a pretty low bar for questions regarding notation and terminology, but this is a little weak, even by those standards. Understanding max notation‭ - RB_‭ 2019-12-04 21:43:29Z

@user21820 I've given up trying to decode his pseudo-mathematical ramblings. I've already done all I can there, so it will take other users to help. As I mentioned in the past, some of the most problematic wrong / misleading content is in comments, where we non-diamond users can do little.

@BillDubuque I was just confirming, in case there is some amazing way to interpret "forcing factors". It's now up for deletion.

@user21820 Alas, handwaving does claim to do "amazing" things. Hankel's reply is a classic: I do not think I'm exaggerating in calling this an unintelligible play on words, ill-becoming of mathematics, which is proud and rightly proud of the clarity and evidence of its concepts. Let's continue to hold up the fort.
[That was Hankel's critique of Cauchy's jaw-dropping handwaving description of his construction of complex numbers - which is given in the link for those interested].

@BillDubuque can I get your opinion on info / usage guidelines on this tag? (context is resolving this discussion)

@XanderHenderson It's up for deletion. Note the asker's attitude in this comment. @RRL @JoséCarlosSantos @BillDubuque

@AlexanderGruber I just perused current usage and the current scheme seems to be working fine, i.e. gcd & lcm merged into gcd-and-lcm, separate from divisibility. What sparks the query, is there some impending action?

@BillDubuque I just changed the tag info to discuss usage instead of some wikipedia excerpt that was there before. Just making sure there's nothing crucial that should be added since I don't really post in the tag.
