@amWhy I would appreciate if you could check out gimusi's answering pattern tho. Consistent low effort answers with immediate upvotes and downvotes on nearly all answers on the same question.

@RushabhMehta Also they answer half of the question and then edit the answer to be full answer

Here is an updated query that also tries to compute the amount of rep that comes from closed questions - data.stackexchange.com/math/query/902361/…
@Holo: the half thing is not really a problem, it is sometimes useful if you think you will duplicate answers with someone else

12:21 AM
@CarlMummert hmm? " the half thing"?

Writing half an answer, saving it, then editing it to include the full answer

Oh, I disagree, if you think that someone else will answer before you just don't write the answer, or write full answer and if someone else post the answer before you move to a different question. If you post half answer you can confuse the OP

@Holo exactly my thoughts
I got a little aggressive one time, but I was just annoyed, cuz every answer I have on a question he answers gets downvoted

(Of course, updating the answer based on new information, or if you forgot something originally, then there is no problem editing)

Yea, but its almost like they mark their territory via answering quickly then editing

12:29 AM
@Holo: it also helps avoid the situation where you start, someone else starts 5 mins later, you finish, then when they finally finish they see you already answered, leaving them feeling embarrassed because they posted basically the same as you, or leaving them feeling irritated if they throw away all that work.

That happens to me 100x a day

So if you're about to write a long answer it might be more collegial to "mark the territory" quickly, so nobody else starts, and then write a full answer.

eh maybe?
its also frustrating cuz there are certain users that you can tell only read the first sentence of the question and write a quick hint that is clearly not pertinent or could be more relevant

@CarlMummert "mark the territory" how exactly? if you just write vague line of thought and I post full answer that full this line of thought, then you edit your answer to be similar to mine, am I in the wrong or you?

Holo: nobody is absolutely "wrong", but you could always wait a while to see if they expand their answer, or leave a comment below it. Of course, you can also ignore the whole "embarrassed to duplicate" thing and write your own answer.

12:32 AM
I hate to be name dropping, but the biggest user I see doing this all the time, other than gimusi, is Mohammad Riazi-Kermani. He'll just ignore the whole question, which usually involves the user asking for help down a certain line of thought, and just gives a hint in a totally irrelevant direction

Currently #14 on the query I posted. :)

Carl, I see your point but I still think it is wrong, at least at some levels. In the example I sent the answer start at 1 line and got edit 4 times to become a good answer

I see that revision history, but it doesn't bother me as much. I guess I do it too math.stackexchange.com/posts/2706114/revisions

Personally, I think that you should have at least start with the second edit

Yea, I don't know about the first post. Starting with the second seems more acceptable to me

@AlexanderGruber Oh you're looking at a post that got vanished after I got some help here. So no action needed from you. =)

I voted to close as "missing context" as some indication of where the asker has a doubt is, in my opinion, required in order to justify the question.
Are there alternative opinions here?

@AlexFrancisco Gone.

Ugh... I'm getting all kinds of terrible audit questions today...
At a minimum, if you want to ask about Euler-Mascheroni, you should probably recall the definition...

@paulplusx Up for deletion. It's anyway trivial to find the answer using Google or Wikipedia, so it's a no-effort question, not to say more suitable for HSM SE.
@amWhy Up for deletion.
@RushabhMehta The askers also try to mark their territory:

Though, to be fair, at least he didn't pee on it?

Well, how else do you mark your territory?

@XanderHenderson Use a fence, of course! You pee on yours?

Of course.
Fences are for peeing on!

Did you learn from your cat or something?

I was raised by wolves.

Anyway, I like the idea of putting a fence around me and declaring myself to be on the outside.

Can it be rolled back?
Although it doesn't matter if the question is deleted.

@amWhy I voted to close as dup because I think it is more helpful (if someone search for this question in the future)

I get really frustrated, sometimes, at the lack of folks around here between say, two hours prior to this post, and the new UTC day. This time slot is ripe for crap.

@amWhy Are you angry on time zones?

@Holo No, not at the time zones... just that between 20:00 and 0:00 UTC time, this room seems to empty somewhat, and it happens to be a time that a lot of crappy questions flood the site. But maybe it empties because I'm in the chatroom.
It is true that there is a lull sometimes between 23:00 and 0:00 site wide. Plus, by the end of the UTC day, folks may be running low on votes of many sorts.

@amWhy I see, well, people need to sleep(hmph, weaks)(although I understand the frustration)

@Holo Yes, I realize this site is rather international, and from many different time zones. And people also need to eat, which is what I should be doing now!

WEAKS! what is the problem being online 24/7?

11:07 PM
So when I say "I'm frustrated" it is usually not directed at anyone specifically.

@amWhy need your help dealing with this guy
@amWhy I also have a gf to tend to. Unfortunately, she makes me realize that I need to have priorities.

Priorities are for weaks!

I'm out of close votes, @RushabhMehta for the next 50 minutes. How would you like me to help?

@amWhy I see $\dot\smile$
@RushabhMehta Close

Well, he's being hella rude in the comments.

11:12 PM
What is this "weaks", @Holo.

Hi Ethan, your comment is unhelpful. Please try to restrict your comments to topic of the thread. — Jonathan Tooker 20 mins ago
Wow

Keep reading
it gets worse

@amWhy it is a little joke I had with some people, because I have really unhealthy lifestyle I am joking with saying that the correct lifestyle is for weaks

@Holo did you keep reading
it gets even memier

@RushabhMehta Feel free to flag such comments for moderator attention, or as "rude or offensive".

11:14 PM
@RushabhMehta I am reading now

| @MichaelHardy If I can show that it has a zero off the critical line in the neighborhood of infinity, then I would attempt to parlay that into a disproof of RH. – Jonathan Tooker 1 min ago

@RushabhMehta Your comments about snark and "simple formulae" have little to do with my question: where can I find a formula for zeta that is already integrated? Please refrain from making off-topic posts, they are unhelpful. — Jonathan Tooker 6 mins ago

lolol

This is respond to
@JonathanTooker I'd recommend cutting the snarky remarks if you seek to have your question answered. And no, you won't escape the "integral" form of the zeta function because there is no simple formula you can plug into, since there are no simple functions we have to describe its result/ — Rushabh Mehta 10 mins ago

What is revenge downvoting?

11:18 PM
@RushabhMehta I've since flagged the question for mod attention, and directed attention to the string of rude, disrespectful comments from the asker, too many to flag them all.

@Holo keep reading. It gets even better. He tries to disprove RH

@Max0815 people focusing on specific user's answer/questions and downvote them because of something(for example closing one of their posts)
@RushabhMehta I am trying to understand... Doesn't he miss a step there?

@Holo he missed more than one step lmao
this whole ordeal was pseudomath

Let's wait and hope a moderator takes action. Also, with another downvote on the question, deletion can begin.

@amWhy I thought 4 is enough

11:25 PM
@amWhy I downvoted to make it -5

@Holo Haven't checked this moment!

@Max0815 I should point out that this is something that should not happen in this site, if you saw it somewhere please flag moderator(s)
@amWhy ;-)

@RushabhMehta Great! Users over 20K can vote to delete immediately. One delete vote now cast! Else, in two days, users with 10K or more rep can join in. Hopefully a mod will cast a a delete vote to settle the matter before then. I've pinned the original post, but should probably replace it with a request for delete votes.

@RushabhMehta It looks like they never heard about the zeta function before the Aityah news

@Holo lmaooo
I mean, if I had a simple formula, I'd probably be cashing in my million dollar Clay Mathematics Institute check right now

11:30 PM
@RushabhMehta What other explanation there is? To think there is closed form?

Not only is this question very problematic, the asker has dug himself in deeper with rude and disrespectful comments, in addition to pure rubbish. Deletion votes requested.

@amWhy Thanks for letting us know!
:P

@Holo he thought there was a simple formula to compute the zeta function regardless of the value of $s$, so he wanted to disprove RH using that
@amWhy HE ASKED ANOTHER QUESTION HERE

@RushabhMehta If I had closed form I would milk it for years before letting everyone know and get the $1m

@Holo :p Just wanted a request to delete/pinned post available for other users here to refer to in this room to see when they stop in.

11:33 PM
@amWhy We need to shut down this new question.

@RushabhMehta I've identified it as a duplicate of this earlier post. I will also flag it. I can not vote to close for another 25 minutes.

I voted to close it

What a goon
I wish I had 350 more rep so I had more close votes
*my
@amWhy Am I permitted to edit his question to write something like "Removed for rude and abusive behavior"?

@RushabhMehta No

@RushabhMehta No, unfortunately not.

11:39 PM
@RushabhMehta ironically the fastest way is to answer PSQ, of course, don't go and do that
@RushabhMehta I also want more 15k to be able to cast delete vote fast :), but lately I answer less questions because I am getting lazy to write full answer

11:53 PM
I think one thing I find frustrating right about this time is the lack of availability of almost all mods who are active on this site.
