There is so much incorrect reasoning here that I, frankly, don't know where to begin.

There seems to be some confusion about basic terminology, there is an assumption of the freshman's dream; I'm not sure what else is going on. I'm not even sure how to offer useful advice for improving the question.

@XanderHenderson It's a persistent educational failure. Once a student asks "why is this wrong?" you know something has gone very wrong. The correct question is "why should this be correct?"...

@MikePierce Didn't. Edited out the comment. Don't know if they're trying to "hide their tracks" or what. But they have three upvoted answers, one of which they accepted. So it is inappropriate for them to request the question's closure and/or deletion.

Yeah, it's weird though because it's not a good question. PSQ and ill-posed. Had OP not asked it be closed, I imagine it would be. So is asking for your question to be closed/deleted the new way to ensure it stays open? :D What a fun game!
