@XanderHenderson Our votes are now refreshed!!!!
Depending on where you are, @XanderHenderson, or @ProfessorVector, for me, this is the evening before Monday due-dates and exams! Maybe I should hit the sack early tonight!!

12:40 AM
This answer just came through the review queue. But I think that the question is the real problem.

1:02 AM
@XanderHenderson The answer is spot on... the question resembles one asked one hour or so ago... which was also a real problem!

exactly my point---the answer is totally in keeping with the question; but the question is junk

@XanderHenderson I dv'd and vtc the question... let's hope that gains traction.

I am really tempted to answer this question with "Yes. Lots of people do."

Should the older question be closed as duplicate of the newer question? (The question posted today contains at least some attempt by the OP, so it is less likely to be closed because of missing context.)
Should the two posts be merged?

I would think that the question with the poorer quality should be marked as the duplicate
Though neither is really all that good, and the higher voted one is just a bare question statements :\

Ok, I voted in the direction older $\to$ newer. We will see how other users vote.

@MartinSleziak I've flagged the newer one as a duplicate of the older one
oops
heh

Or maybe I should write "less context" $\to$ "more context". (Just to make it clear that I voted in the way to follow your suggestion.)
@XanderHenderson You probably mean that you voted to close (not "flagged") right?

Yeah, that is probably the right thing to do
@MartinSleziak To-mah-to, to-may-to

2:44 PM
So if you think that this is the right direction, you can retract your close vote on the newer question and cast a close vote on the older one.

I just switched my vote around; though the older one has teh superior answer, I think
that is the problem---the older question is poorer, but the older question has the superior answer

@XanderHenderson Well, in that case we can ask mods to merge the questions. (Which moves the answer to the other one.) But let's see first whether it is going to be closed in this direction.

Of course, it is up to the moderators' judgement how they handle flag for merging - whether they merge the questions or not.

@XanderHenderson That may be not a good idea, because the system writes "Know someone who can answer?" under every unanswered question, too. Though I agee wholeheartedly: lots of people doing their exercises instead of asking others to do the job know how

There is one more near-duplicate - 1068566: Help with difficult telescoping series question. The only difference is that the sum ends at 2012. (Which probably is not that much of a difference.)

I don't think that this question is really about math...
it is a programming question, no?

@MartinSleziak Now closed (revisions/timeline). I have flagged the question for merging - so it is now up to the moderators.
@MartinSleziak This one is now closed, too (revisions/timeline).

i guys, i feel like completely rewriting my question
based on what i noticed while adding details

5:26 PM
So if i do one big edit does anyone mind?

@Peter Since I see no answer, editing should be okay.

@amWhy okay thanks

This question needs to be closed. It's a PSQ, with attitude (skim through comments below answer.)

This user has accumulated a surprising rep total given the poor quality of their posts.
