@amWhy I initially did not link it but someone asked me to as I gave it as an example regsrding the ongoing. Note if that you had been paying attention in here the last few days then you would know that this chat has been discussing closures. There is currently (from what I understand) a significant debate right now as on how to handle the no context close reason. There are quite a few (including me) who say it should either be replaced or changed to something else.
I am thinking we should have something different than the word context as to me it sounds vague. I am curious what your opinion is.
@amWhy yeah you are correct. I suppose I was mostly of those not-so-often meta questions asking more about why math is the way it is rather than a specific problem statement. Questions where context is more or less inherent like the one I linked. Personally though I think we need a "lack of rigor" close reason for posts that have context and are verbally understandable, but lack enough rigor to actually answer the question.
@amWhy honestly, that actually fits on my computer screen. You have to understand... Im also a computer science. I type quite literally miles a minute. Im sorry if that bothers you or anyone else.

No worries, @TheGreatDuck, really.

oh ok
it was hard to tell if that was meant as irritation or just a legitimate statement of "nobody wants to dig through comments". XD

12:36 AM
@TheGreatDuck I'm not irritated at all =)

coolio
i do hope with the site update that the fix the mobile version though
the mobile phone main site consistently crashes every time i go to log in
i only get it to work upon closing and starting over
ugh
@amWhy mind finding a question for me. It was closed for lack of rigor and I now more or less possess the rigor.

@TheGreatDuck Which question?

It was about a month ago on whether divergent limits can all be written as linear combinations or something. It has been deleted since then and Id prefer to edit rather than write it anew.

@TheGreatDuck That's no easy task, to track down questions from a month ago and that have been deleted. I can typically see only deleted posts I have links to, e.g., if I had commented, favorited, even voted on a deleted question, I can usually track it down. I'm in the review queue right now; if I don't get to it tonight, I'll try tomorrow morning (like 12 hours from now!).

oh theres no way to view deleted ones a particular user wrote? If not dont worry about it. A mod can probably look it up in a list.
I thought for you guys, the deleted posts just stay in a users list, marked as [deleted].
(honestly I should be able to see mine, but oh well)

12:49 AM
@TheGreatDuck That would indeed be quicker!

1:03 AM
found it
check it tomorrow and it should appropriately edited

@TheGreatDuck Sounds good!

1:24 AM
@TheGreatDuck Legitimate query: wouldn't it be easier to just post a new question?

2:02 AM
@XanderHenderson but then it would be a duplicate and get deleted

2:46 AM
I'm pretty sure that a deleted post cannot be the target of a duplicate
and isn't the problem that it is deleted?

@XanderHenderson ?
yes, it is not about mathematics.
i guess...? I'm confused now.

3:03 AM
@XanderHenderson i fixed it
take a look
@XanderHenderson trust me, someone will find a way if they are a stickler.

3:49 AM
@TheGreatDuck Look at what?

1 hour later…
4:52 AM
@MartinSleziak I waited a bit to see whether I get some feedback on this here in chat. Nobody objected so I voted to close as a duplicate - I'll first wait to see whether other users vote the same way; if it is closed then it might be flagged for merging.

@XanderHenderson the question we were just discussing...

10k+ users can see all their deleted posts. Users with lower reputation have easy access at least to deleted posts that were created in the last 60 days.

@MartinSleziak see my rep.
it was created a while ago. not in my list. besides. We already found it. Yer late to the party.
"Deleted Recent Questions
No deleted recent questions"

Wiktionary: yer.
Data explorer contains some data about deleted questions, but not data to identify the OP: Can some metadata about deleted posts be included in Data.SE?

@MartinSleziak I was just asking amwhy to dig up an old post for me thats all. I already found it. Im good.

You could probably get this form past data dumps, but I do not know exactly how this is done (and it would certainly be a lot of effort). AFAIK something like this was not created for Math.SE: Unofficial Stack Overflow deleted question archive now available

6:51 AM
im really confused how this is relevant to me?

@TheGreatDuck What you wrote here is true - if a user is 10k+ then he sees deleted question if it is in some of the lists (for example such as favorites, votes, etc.

no you wrote it?

Of course, this is not the same as having possibility to search for deleted stuff.
I simply replied to your messages.

irregardless, i wasnt wanting to know the mechanics of the site nor needing a lecture on them. I was just asking for hrlp finding a post.

Re: I thought for you guys, the deleted posts just stay in a users list. Yes, it stays in some lists - as the examples listed above - I am not sure whether this was what you meant by "users list".
Re: oh theres no way to view deleted ones a particular user wrote. This is incorrect - as I explained above.

6:54 AM
@MartinSleziak go to someones profile. click questions.
i assumed that if smart people ran the site theyd just leave them visible for high rep users

So if by user lists you meant the questions/answers listed on the user profile, deleted posts are not shown there.

rather than go to the trouble of making such a (dare I say) conviluted looking msss
@MartinSleziak yeah
really its weird that they dont do that

I am not sure whether you are referring to me when you talk about making convoluted looking mess. If it is so, I do apologize.

i mean unless deleted posts eventually get actually deleted as in purged from the server itself

Since the topics was deleted questions, I thought mentioned when can they be found and where they are displayed might be useful (maybe for other users of this chatroom, since you say you're not really interested in this).

6:58 AM
@MartinSleziak no. the linked posts describing all those lists and things sounds like a really over complicated way to accomplish "lets just make deleted posts hidden for low rep users".
heck, it is just a minor change in the sql query into their database. Sewms like it would less of a hassle for everyone. And if people dont like that, then put a convenient tickbox on your profile settings to hide deleted questions.

@TheGreatDuck Hard deletion is a completely different topic. AFAIK it is done only in exceptional cases and it is done only manually.

ah
wasnt sure if they had to once in a while to clear the harddrives
like for blatantly useless posts after years of sitting untiuched
^^to anyone else or whomever this needs undelete votes

By hard delete I mean that a post (or a specific revision) is completely eradicated from the database. However, I cannot quickly find a documentation about this - the only thing I found by a quick search was about hiding a revision: Allow moderators to hide a revision.
It seems that this exact question was mentioned in this room again.
@user21820 Sorry to bother you, but as you can see the same question was now brought up in this room by the OP. I wanted to let you know, in case you wish to comment on this. (And even if you do not have anything to add, I thought letting you know is a reasonable thing to do.)
Sorry for the typo in the above message - I wanted to write "before" rather than "again".

I am sorry. I will drop it and stop spamming that the question be reopened.
I also made sure to reverse my edits since editing deleted posts is against the rules. I am sorry for making a big fuss about it

7:16 AM
I don't think that editing deleted questions is against the rules. (In fact, if somebody wants a post to be undeleted and reopened, trying to improve it via edits is a reasonable thing to do.)
I'd probably have to go. And it seems this discussion is more-or-less exhausted. (I am sorry if I digressed too much from the original topic in the above exchange.)

7:28 AM
@MartinSleziak nah don't apologize. rereading those comments i see that my question ought to stay deleted. fixed or otherwise.

@Did @amWhy @ZacharySelk: PSQs here and here and here and here and here and here and here and here.
And this PSQ is stuck...
And this question is actually better than his teacher's question!
@XanderHenderson @AsafKaragila: And another upcoming crank here. They sure know how to write abstract fantasy!

6:46 PM
@MartinSleziak The question is now closed as a duplicate (revisions/timeline/review). I have flagged it for merging.

7:12 PM
@MartinSleziak Nice work! Thanks.

aw... the crank post has been deleted and I can't read it :(

@amWhy hiya

@mixedmath How's the weather been this winter?

9:43 PM
@XanderHenderson it wasnt worth reading

@MartinSleziak Now the questions have been merged by Jack D'Aurizio: math.stackexchange.com/posts/1835990/revisions math.stackexchange.com/posts/1270599/revisions

@amWhy A lot of snow in Boston and London (the two places I spend most of my time), though "a lot" has a very different meaning in each city
now it's pretty ordinary and rainy here

Are in in England now? Well, in Wisconsin, the past week has been rainy, cold, but above freezing, had a thunderstorm all day yesterday, temp dropped 20 degrees, and the rain turned to snow (3 inches). (I'm in the southern portion of WI; my sister, is central and west of me in WI. They got 12 inches of snow yesterday!)

@amWhy sounds like a cheesy batch of weather

@TheGreatDuck hahahaha! That's a good one!

thanks
