Q: Advantages to formulating the Collatz Conjecture without division?

Louis RubinUsually, the Collatz function is defined by $C(n)=3n+1$ if $n$ is odd and $C(n)=\frac{n}{2}$ if $n$ is even, and the famous conjecture states that some iterate of $C$ evaluated at $n$ is 1, for any positive integer $n$. I've spent a lot of time playing around with this problem, and one thing I've...

Q: Asymptotic approximation functions for TSP

slithy_toveI have been reading a lot about TSP approximation algorithms recently, and I noticed that most of the algorithms tend to fall under two general categories: some that have a guaranteed approximation ratio for all possible graphs (most notably the Christofides algorithm), and some that perform very...

I had closed math.stackexchange.com/q/4708359/42969 as a duplicate of math.stackexchange.com/q/946041/42969 and math.stackexchange.com/q/318357/42969, with additional links to math.stackexchange.com/q/2630761/42969 and math.stackexchange.com/q/318357/42969 in the comments, but the question was reopened by a gold-badge holder (who had answered the current question).
I suggest to close the question as a duplicate again, this has been solved (for general exponent p instead of exponent 4) many times before, with different methods.
