Before beginning your CURED day, listen to Number 18 here.
May you be devoted to everything you do in life.

7:05 AM
Unclear – if 2.4 ≥ x < 5 is not a typo then it is a silly question (and the answer is wrong).

@MartinR This user doesn't even respect their own question, look at the comments on the deleted answer. I wouldn't say that this question deserves an answer, if anything the comment of Peter should have satisfied the user. I'm not too worried if we press for deletion.

9:17 AM
Failed this one again. Petition to only use tests that are no older than 2 years.

@vitamind Ouch, this will hurt, probably a PSQ. But this post is from just 7 days back?
Another thing : the user has asked a very similar question but with graphs over here. It's a far better question. It seems the user has been doing something right, then.

@TeresaLisbon Oh I misread, I thought the question was posted in 2014. Sorry for the confusion. It's not a bad question, one may discuss wether to close or leave it open, but it should not be a review audit question (since it is strictly speaking a PSQ).

@vitamind True, in the sense that review audits are usually non-debatably correct or wrong, and this one is, in the least, debatable, and at the worst, plain wrong!

@vitamind Audits are picked essentially automatically, there is no human overseer checking every single question which becomes an audit. So if you think an audit question should be closed then there is nothing stopping you from clicking the link to the question and voting to close it anyway.

@user1729 I am aware of that. Still, I think the algorithm should be improved. I know it's easier said than done but there should at least be a minimum of words.

9:30 AM
For everybody who has cats , this is for you.

I suspect the algorithm just looks at the reception of the question - 6 upvotes, no downvotes, 1 favourite, and then an answer appearing in 2hrs with 4 upvotes and no downvotes. Any other algorithm would be much harder to implement, and be much narrower in focus (only applicable to Math.SE, rather than across the whole platform). The negative impact is minimal, so I doubt they will change it.
What this means is that the emphasis is on the users of the site (as opposed to the overlords), which I think it correct. It also means that when you encounter poor questions you should downvote them etc. - just sitting here or using the review queue doesn't solve the wider problem by itself.

For everybody who has dogs, this is for you

this question has been defended because it emphases the sense in which the "equation" 1+2+3+...=-1/12 is meant , however I do not think that those regularizations have any merit, so some countercomments and downvotes would be welcome.

Wow i did it time to escape

9:51 AM
@Peter I've asked OP to clarify. The onus is on them. If the clarification is not forthcoming, we can downvote and delete. Right now I have not made any decisions, therefore I leave the question as it is, but I'm anticipating that the user will be satisfied.

I got modal dialog saying that you have earned access to various review queues. Looks like it is for encouraging users who are accessing review queues for the first time.

10:04 AM
@Peter Side note : there is a new answer in the candidate duplicate post, which has been tailored to this specific question.

PSQ to close: 4110799
PSQ to delete: 4105420 4105562

10:53 AM
@user1729 It seems this one will need deeper review. The user says the question is not trivial , and that's the reason no context has been provided.
Now there's an answer there as well.

@TeresaLisbon What is the current close-review status ?

@Peter 424 close votes.
I finished my review for the day.

Me too

11:30 AM
@TeresaLisbon Context is not just "what have you tried?", but also saying where they found it, or even just why they think it is non-trivial.

12:16 PM
@vitamind I really wouldn't worry about the occasional audit failure. The system is automatic and imperfect. It is annoying, but we have to live with it (even I get audits).

@XanderHenderson Would like you to come up with a fitting response to the role of MathJax in the question posted by @user1729 here. It also contains a disgruntled user and an answerer who for some reason wants to be in the good books.
Context and efforts are not given because they could be stolen, is a viewpoint I'm hearing for the first time. I'd like debate.
(note : in the first comment, by "posted" by user1729 I meant "posted on CURED", sorry about that).

@Peter My own research is tangentially related to these kinds of objects (e.g. how do integrals and sums similar to $\sum n^s$ behave near the boundaries of the domains where they are absolutely convergent? can they be extended analytically to larger domains? if so, where are the poles?). It seems natural to ask if the analytic extensions are unique, thus I don't understand your hostility to the question.
The question is a duplicate, but that doesn't make it a bad question. :\
@user21820 I encountered this question on the review queue. I don't see it as a shining example of a good question, but I also didn't really see anything wrong with it. But the mathematics is far from my comfort zone---I think it is more up your alley. Could you please take a look?
(and let me know if it is garbage---I'd be happy to vote to close if it is)

This question was vandalized by its author. Is it worth to do a rollback, or should we simply strive to get it deleted? The original statement is “obviously wrong” and was a typo, therefore I can not see any value in that Q&A.

@MartinR No need to "strive", we have a mod among us!

@MartinR Considering the history of the question, I don't think that it is worth keeping. You should try to get it deleted.
Aw... @TeresaLisbon... ruining my fun. :(
pouts

@XanderHenderson Apologies! But, தலைவர் இருந்தால் யாருக்கு கவலை?! (When the mod is around, why should we worry?)

12:58 PM
@TeresaLisbon Please use Mathjax to write mathematical expressions ;).

1:17 PM
@vitamind Haha, to be fair the translation is quite weak.

I am tempted to unilaterally close this post as being too broad, using my stock "Math SE is not for peer review." However, I am a little hesitant to act on number theory questions too hastily, as I don't know what kinds of questions people find interesting. Do others have opinions?
(Note: I'll be teaching for the next three hours or so, so I may not get back to this at any time soon.)

@XanderHenderson: Hi. I posted a proof-verification post that you closed down for being a duplicate. The posts you linked to didn't really help that much unfortunately.

I am a bit confused about what the general rules are as I am still quite new to the site. When will a proof verification post not be considered a duplicate?

@CoveredInChocolate Link? (and again, I am really not here right now... I have to go teach)

Q: The set of all rational points in the plane is a countable set

CoveredInChocolateEdit: My question was closed. I am aware that it has been proved before, but I needed help with my particular proof which the other posts don't really help me with! From Kolmogorov's Introductory Real Analysis. I am doing some self-study and would like some feedback on whether my proof is correct...

No worries, I got a verification in a comment so there's no rush. Just so I know in the future.
Verification that my proof was correct, I mean. :)

M'kay, I don't have time to discuss this right now, but some relevant reading:

Q: How to answer proof-verification questions?

user3493525Sometimes, proof-verification questions ask for verification of a valid and overall solid proof (some examples: What is the $\dim L(X,Y)$?, Prove $(\overline{A \cap B}) \subseteq \overline{A} \cap \overline{B}$., If $f_n(t):=f(t^n)$ converges uniformly to continuous function then $f$ constant). ...

Q: The problem with proof verification

Asaf KaragilaWhat I am going to bring up is not a new problem. It was hashed again and again and again. It was brought up as far as 2013, and repeatedly almost every year. See 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8. Some of these questions discuss whether or not it makes sense, or what to do when the supposed proof tries...

I'll be back later.

3:23 PM
Opinion based, I think? https://math.stackexchange.com/q/4108630/29335

I don't know what would constitute a real answer, at least an answer that isn't opinion.

3:34 PM
Okay, I see the issue with never-ending proof verification posts.

I also got enough votes so my post was reopened again.

integral PSQ. Needs one more close vote.

4:24 PM
this post basically asks for the structure of the exponents $n$ such that the so-called ec-numbers are prime. Such a structure probably does not exist despite of some surprising coincidences. But maybe some people continue the search for primes of this form, so it might have a merit to keep it open.

Yes , I noticed this post. The question , as stated , has not much merit , unfortunately , projects about searching primes are neither very on-topic here. In rare cases, I actually got results from such projects , factors and large primes , but this is apparently not the right place for such projects. There should be a site where such projects can be suggested and helpers meet to do the projects.

5:30 PM
@XanderHenderson I don't see anything wrong with it. Such questions are very common from students whose teachers do not make clear what exactly is FOL.
It was also based partly on a misconception that ZFC only has "∈" and no inbuilt "=", which is false and was cleared up in Alex's comment.
Ironically, that second misconception is also commonly due to unclear texts making misleading claims such as "you can define equality in set theory via extensionality".
I should probably also say that FOL without equality used to be a bit more popular in history, so what I say here reflects just the convention today.
Bottom line is still the same; if people were more precise such questions won't exist.

5:45 PM
@user21820 Wunderbar. Then I feel like I made the right decision when clicking "Leave Open". Thank you for the input.

5:59 PM
Integral PSQ how does this not have views, close votes, down votes, ANY votes?
PSQ OP's participation absent.

6:15 PM
@XanderHenderson Can I ask what 'CW' means, please?

'At least when the question has been there for some time and nobody has found anything to say about it except "yes, that is correct", then I think it is appropriate to post an answer to that effect, possibly as CW.'

@soupless Community Wiki(CW) answers and question earn(and lose) you no reputation.

Ok, thank you. I still don't understand some shorthands which I can't get through context clues :D

PSQ Also see comments of answerer, perhaps it is fun then.

6:25 PM
@soupless Presumably, it means "community wiki", but I need more context.
@soupless Oh, yes. Community Wiki.

@XanderHenderson Indeed it is short for "community wiki". (Now I'm starting to sound like an old-timer, referring to "back in the day...")
@TeresaLisbon But at least such questions are answered. And with CW, it is clear the answerer is not trying to milk out some rep for it!

@amWhy True (and : HI!!!)
Now the emotion is down, so : hello.
Low quality answer to a question that asks for "simplification steps". And the user's comment.

6:44 PM
@TeresaLisbon It can be considered as a rude comment, am I wrong?

@soupless I, well, I'm not sure honestly, particularly because it is directed at the downvoter, but that person is anonymous. It's rude but it kind of falls on deaf ears. You can flag, but I did not.
