Needs your vote (you'll know what type) math.stackexchange.com/q/3604260/29335

@rschwieb I'm not sure that it really does need any more votes; Roomba will clean it up in a week.

@XanderHenderson a) I don't have all that minutae memorized; b) who knows what will happen in the meantime a week is passing; c) surely 1 vote is worth it to get rid of it.

12:49 PM
@rschwieb (a) I don't have it memorized---I have a userscript installed which displays Roomba information. (b) I have no doubt that the particular question will disappear---I cannot imagine anyone reopening it. On the other hand, it is always possible that it will be improved. I see no need to be hasty. (c) I only get a few delete votes each days, so I prefer not to spend those votes on things which are going to be dealt with automatically, anyway.
As an additional note, that question can only be deleted by folk with 20k+ XP.

@rschwieb now gone.

1:12 PM
@XanderHenderson Thanks! That's much more helpful. I was about to ask "what are some guidelines for situations when it's safe to say a question's going away without help?" but it sounds like this script is a timesaver in that respect.
needless to say I haven't had to optimize for delete vote allotments, and it shows

can I request for a undeletion here?

You can request that users here consider undeleting a post, but you should also provide information about why you think the question/answer ought to be undeleted.
@r9m ^^^ See my comment immediately above.

@r9m I await your explanation or reasons for why you think the question should be undeleted.

r9m
OP seems to have deleted the question a week or two later after I posted an answer here .. well I don't like my posts deleted without a proper explanation
@amWhy I am not sure about the correct response in this situation .. I did leave a comment here requesting the OP to undelete the post ..

@r9m Oh, I see. I did not note that the op deleted it. You've got my undelete vote.
@r9m You can also post, in a new answer field to the Request Reopen or Undelete votes thread on Meta. If you mention that the post was deleted by the OP, you'll get a lot of sympathy from users who will readily undeltete. As of now, it only needs one more undelete vote.

r9m
@amWhy The inetresting thing here is that the OP started a 200 bounty on these two posts around 19th March .. accepted one of them and before the bounty expired unchecked it so that I only got 1/2 the bounty awarded by the community (had 3 votes at the time) .. XD
only recently accepted the answer after I left a comment asking why he/she unchecked it ..
I think this might be a case of 'do my homework for me and then I delete the question' .. XD

3:15 PM
I cast the decisive undelete vote. However, I also voted to close---the question is a Problem Statement Question (PSQ) which appears to have been more-or-less copied out of a textbook or notes. There is no other context given, hence I don't think that it is a terribly useful question for the site.
I also left a comment admonishing the asker for deleting their question after getting an answer.
@amWhy @r9m

Seeking opinions: Am I being too strict here? Imho if you answer an unclear question and someone politely asks for clarification on precisely which version of the question you are answering then it is your duty to be more precise. I think it is rude to waste the time of many readers by making them spend the effort to infer that (even if there is a unique inference - which is not even clear here). Are my answer quality standards too high?

@XanderHenderson, @BillDubuque I was torn on this, and would not have voted to undelete were it not an attempt by the asker to "cover their tracks" (from possible detection by deleting the evidence of likely cheating. ) But I do support, virtually always, the arguments you give. I guess I let my revulsion at a likely cheater to overcome me.
I also saw the question as being a step-above a PSQ, in that they described a "plan of attack" (unless the question was originally posed as a three part question, and the OP plagiarized the exercise to make it look like they thought of this sequence).
And, it seemed @r9m put a lot of effort in their answer, was not answering as a FGITW, nor with a one or two sentence glib answer. This was a hard one for me.
@BillDubuque No I do not think your quality standards are too high. Just that occasionally, different features of a question and answer may be more poignant among those with high-quality standards

4:07 PM
@amWhy I read the "plan of attack" as an extended statement of the problem. This looks a lot like the kinds of exercises that, for example, Evans puts in his PDE text. The statement of the exercise consists of a long hint.
To avoid setting off my PSQ tingles, I would have liked to have seen an original thought on the part of the asker, or a reference, or a specific question regarding a single step in that plan of attack.
@BillDubuque No, your standards are not too high (in my opinion). Unclear questions should not be answered until clarity is provided.

Q: Linear Math Question

Choy HowX + Y = 8, X + W = 13, Y + Z = 8, Y - Z = 6, What is the values or X, Y, X, Z

@XanderHenderson I said just that as a strong possibility, upon reflection, dear Xander.

@rschwieb "Linear Math"?!
@amWhy I wasn't contradicting; just agreeing and expanding my explanation.

@XanderHenderson I understand.

Q: Find $x$ in the equation $\log_4(x-2)+3\log_28=10$

ManI hope you can help me get the real answer to this question $$\log_4(x-2)+3\log_28=10$$ For this question, I get $x=3$ but the real answer is $x=6$. Thanks for the one who help me

The answerer to the above question initially commented, "please show your work..." but then answered anyway, doing it for the OP, just as the OP expected to happen. >:-Z
^^^And now there are three answerers, and an upvote on the question.

Q: Differential Equation Question HELP!!!

Matthew Wangenter image description here I don't know how to get started on this question, can someone help out.

@rschwieb OMG >:-[
The question I last link to was asked by a user who has asked three of the same sorts of questions in the last 7 hours, getting solutions each time.

@user21820 Would you consider voting to close the last linked post I posted? (Perhaps you've already done so.)

@rschwieb Closed.
@amWhy One more close-vote needed.

@user21820 Thanks.

Q: Proof with induction about modular equations.

RashaIs it possible to prove it? Show by means of induction that for any positive integer $x$, either $4^x\equiv 1 \pmod 5$ or $4^x\equiv 4 \pmod 5$ applies.

5:54 PM
@amWhy "prove this: photo in the body" Well wasn't that just special.

@rschwieb I remember that post; but don't see it immediately above.
@rschwieb I was only referring to my three requests today; I'm not sure which post you are referring to, but I do remember it.

I removed my complaints, @rschwieb. I don't know exactly what you mean to communicate. As I recall, the quote you give was the title of a very poor post. And, as the Church Lady would say, I agree "Well wasn't that just special."
Anyway, I don't want to bother any one anymore right now.

@amWhy No message intended, beyond incredulity about this post https://math.stackexchange.com/revisions/3604970/1

Maybe you actually didn't see the trainwreck that was the original post.
@amWhy I'm not referring to any of your comments. I only pinged because I saw your activity on the post in question.

@rschwieb That's what I pretty much figured. Thank goodness it was closed. I just cast a delete vote on it too!

Rixant Let R be a relation defined on by if is even. You may assume the fact that a product is odd if both factors are odd and a product is even if either factor is even. [14 pts.]

^^^^^ The above linked post is now closed and open for deletion.

@amWhy requires 20k+ XP, but will be Roomba'd in 10 days.
@amWhy Ditto. But holy cow... didn't even bother to delete the point value.
Sigh...

@XanderHenderson provided not pity votes come that way... circumstances now are not what they were even three months ago.
@XanderHenderson provided no pity votes come that way, or rally's from Zacky and Co. intervene ... circumstances now are not what they were. So some posts are worth deleting now, especially in the height of the PSQ-virus that has infected this site of late.

@user21820 I'm on the fence regarding D4. It was closed as a duplicate, but it appears to be of slightly higher quality than the dupe target (the dupe target includes an attempt, while the newer question includes some key words like "Newton sums"). The newer question also has answers which, superficially, look fine to me.
Maybe it is worth keeping as a road sign?
Or reverse the direction of closure, and move to delete the older question?
@amWhy Sure enough. In any event, I don't have 20k XPs, so I can't vote to delete.

@XanderHenderson I know, they even typed in the question themselves, including the points. (For the majority of posts with points shown, they are images PSQ's with points indicated in the images.

i no rite!?

7:56 PM
@XanderHenderson Face-palm. I forget. You are such an asset as a contributer on this point; I forget sometimes about "rep thresholds". I wish SE would adjust lowercase monopoly money rep, with real, earned capital letter Rep!!

:)
I only need 1300 more XPs. At the current rate... 6 months? :)
Or maybe I should go harvest some low hanging fruit. ;)

@XanderHenderson You'll get there soon enough, hopefully sooner than 6 months.

I'm not worried about it. At this point, I have access to essentially all of the features of the site which I regularly feel the need to use.

@XanderHenderson Just be sure to harvest it as other LHFG come like flies on a corpse, because your answer is bound to be better than theirs!! ;)

8:46 PM
Interesting, @Xander. My last linked post was apparently deleted by "Community $\color{blue}{\diamond}$. It had had two delete votes... earlier... Anyway, $\color{blue}{\text{Community }\diamond}$ got the job done.

@amWhy Looks like the user was removed (or deleted their account).

@XanderHenderson Ahh, that explains it!

Um... what? This question was closed as a duplicate, but I don't see a dupe target. Am I missing something?

9:17 PM
@XanderHenderson That's the new "for the birds" close reason (cf. above). I succeeded in talking SE into implementing it...

@BillDubuque Wow, nice. Good work! How does it get implemented? Is it when there's a linked dupe and some close votes/flags for "needs details..." or "low quality", respectively?
