@Jack I disagree---I think that if you want to wield the moderation tools, then you must be engaged with the community. You should know what the standards and practices are, which necessitates some participation in meta.

@JyrkiLahtonen Answers can be deleted (by votes of other users) only if they have negative score. For questions, the score influences how soon after closing they can be deleted and how many delete votes are needed.
> Users with reputation ≥ 10k (more precisely, the moderator-tools privilege; 2k on beta sites) can vote to delete questions that have been closed/put on hold or marked as duplicate for 48 hours. It takes three votes to delete; more if the question is popular, but ten votes at most.
> Users with reputation ≥ 20k (more precisely, the trusted-user privilege; 4k on beta sites) are not subject to the 48-hour waiting period for deleting closed questions with a score of −3 or lower. They may also vote to delete answers of score −1 or lower, including accepted answers (unless they are the owner of that answer). It takes three votes to delete an answer.

Thanks @MartinSleziak, @XanderHenderson

As you correctly said, for roomba the score is also important.

@Jack I left some comments on this in the searching chatroom. If we are about to discuss whether (and where) a link to the FAQ on searching should be placed in the Help Center, perhaps we could do so in the searching chatroom or in Math Meta Chat. (So that we do not digress to much from the purpose of this room.)

I am hesitant to bring this up, as I have answered question, but I do not think that the following is really opinion-based:

Q: How should trig functions be pronounced?

izhangFor $\sin$, I think that it is pretty obvious to just say the full name. However, for the others do you sound out the abbreviation or do you say the full name? I have also heard some people pronounce $\csc$ as "cosec". Is there a general consensus or convention?

@MartinSleziak Thanks for that.

The question is "Is there a convention or standard?", not "How should I pronounce this?"
I think that my answer demonstrates that there is at least one objective answer.
In any event, I recuse myself from voting.

@XanderHenderson yeah: one of those awkward cases where a question for english.stackexchange probably gets more representative coverage in the field directly. A good example to have around here for the future.
(That is, an example of a question that can be argued to deserve leniency. My course of action is "no need for action" in this case. And also "the field" I was speaking of is mathematics. I'm apparently not very specific this morning.)

@XanderHenderson I do not think we are talking about the same thing. (1) There are (even high rep) users who do not (or not anymore) care about, and do not use, the moderator tools; and they are here simply for answering questions. There is not responsibility whatsoever for such group of people to participate in meta.

(2) I was talking about how to encourage such group of people, and even the askers (who may neither participate in meta nor want to use the moderator tools), to avoid asking/answering duplicates. (3) One possible way to do so is to make Martin's meta post known by more people, even for those who has zero interests in meta. (4) @MartinSleziak's right that such discussion is not very much suitable in this room and may be someone can help move it to the appropriate one.

@Jack The current conversation was prompted following the unilateral reopening of a gold-badge user with over 100k XP. This user also does not generally participate in Meta. Hence my comment were relevant.
The relevant chat message is here.
The asker has had two days to improve the question and provide the context I (and others) asked for. They have not. Summing $\sum_{k=0}^\infty q^{2k}$ and $\sum_{k=0}^\infty q^{2k+1}$‭ - TKN‭ 2019-11-15 22:46:51Z

@XanderHenderson x I seem to have picked the close reason there when it came up in the close-votes review queue. I would say that it is opinion based, not least because the pronunciations you give in your answer are all clearly American dialect and so, to British ears, "wrong". But... that's a matter of opinion. Incidentally, if you're interested, sinh is pronounced "shine" in BritEng on the grounds that having something pronounceable is more important than the exact location of the 'h' :)

@postmortes Regional variation is not a matter of opinion, it is simply a matter of regional variation.
It is not an opinion that "sinh" is pronounced /sintSH/ in American English and (apparently) /SHīn/ in British English.
I can see an argument for the question being closed for not being about mathematics (i.e. it might better be asked on the English Language SE), but I don't see it as a matter of opinion. That is, the question is "Is there a consensus or convention?" and the answer is "Yes. The convention is..."
