I think that this question is kind of interesting, but I worry about it for two reasons: (1) I think that it is overly broad (I've added the tag because it is clearly appropriate, but the guidance on the tag admonishes users to use it sparingly, and only in compelling cases) and (2) it might be better asked at HMSSE. Are there any other opinions in the room?

@amWhy You might be amused by this comment.
Me: amWhy doesn't really like the masculine pronoun.
Asker: I don't care about his sex!
...

@XanderHenderson no that isn't what you said. you told asker that "You have just assumed that amWhy is male. You really shouldn't make that assumption" rather than directly "actually amWhy is not a male", and then here you pretend that you told the asker directly instead of going around circles
@XanderHenderson and also that's not what the asker said. the asker said "i don t care about his sex, and i can say he as i don t know it", without an exclamation mark, which you read into it. and the second half of the quote is important.

@LeakyNun I don't know amWhy's gender; I do know that they don't like it when people assume that they are male.
There are pronouns other than "he" and "she"; the neuter "they" is quite common.

if amWhy doesn't like to be assumed to be a male, then wouldn't amWhy say it themself? why do you need to point it out in their stead? also, I would imagine that "they" is more popular among the native speakers. when I learnt English (I'm from Hong Kong), I never even heard of "they" being a singular pronoun and always used "he".
and the asker is from Morocco, so one could assume that English is not their native language

@LeakyNun The asker is focussing on the aspects of the comments that have nothing to do with the question. The question of gender is one that I brought up in passing, and I thought that @amWhy might be interested to see that the asker doubled down on their choice of language. The larger issue is that the asker is not doing anything to clarify or improve their question, despite repeated requests to do so.

and I'm just pointing out how you filtered the conversation through your lenses.

@LeakyNun I didn't claim to be providing an objective point of view.

fair enough.

I linked to the thread so that amWhy (or anyone else) could read it for themselves.
That being said "I don't care about his sex" is a direct quote...

the exclamation mark changes the whole meaning
"I don't care about his sex!" is being dismissive; "I don't care about his sex" is being genuinely indifferent.

Again, I'm not claiming to be objective. But that particular quote comes across as dismissive. That may not be what was intended, but that is how it comes across. In any event, I didn't bring it up again in the thread, because it is a minor point. The underlying issue remains: the question is not getting improved, and the asker is displaying a rather demanding attitude.

@XanderHenderson I appreciate that, and, @LeakyNun, I think it is showing respect for all community members for users, like Xander, to point out non-inclusive language, whether it excludes more than half the world's population, or ethnic groups, or persons from certain Nationalities, and the same wrt persons from different races. I'd do the same if I came across a post with the greeting: "Hello fellow Americans!" One wouldn't need to be a non-American to object.

Do you all approve user posting his attempt on piece of paper instead of mathjaxing it?

Q: Limit $\lim_{x\to0}\frac{f(x)-g(x)}{x^2}$.

Koolman Limit $$\lim_{x\to0}\frac{f(x)-g(x)}{x^2}$$ Consider , $f(x)=x-\sin x,g(x)=\cos^{-1}(e^{-\frac{x^2}{2}})$ and $h(x)=\tan^{-1}(\dfrac{2x}{1+x^2})$ then we have to find the value of limit when x approaches to $0$ $\frac{f(x)-g(x)}{x^2}$ My try :

@Abcd I certainly don't, when said asker has over 1,400 in reputation points. If an asker hasn't earned enough to post an image, or if they have only enough to post an image, say, e.g., an asker has less that 60 rep points, then I'm apt to either help them to post the image (if they can't), or forgive them for the image, and appreciate their attempt to post their workings.
@Abcd But in relation to the question you linked here just now, and given the reputation of the asker, I find that there is no excuse whatsoever to put the least work possible into posting a question. Thatnks for asking!

@amWhy Asker has asked 2 or 3 questions in 30 minutes and in all of them he has done the same thing (posting an image of his solution)
even in his previous question he did that
@amWhy Will very low quality flag be acceptable here?
@amWhy Its like a "dumped" solution. There's no effort there. He has just replaced the right term by 0 just like that.

Q: Prove that $f'(1)+f'(-1)=0$

KoolmanIf $f$ is a differentiable function on $\mathbb{R}$ such that $f(x+y),f(x)f(y),f(x-y)$ (taken in that order) are in arithmetic progression for all $x,y$ belonging to Real numbers and $f(0)$ is not equal to $0$ then we have to prove that $f'(1)+f'(-1)=0$ . MY try : Unable to solve further .

Q: What is $\lim_{x\rightarrow \infty}(\frac{P(x)}{5(x-1)})^x$?

KoolmanConsider $p(x)=ax^2+bx+c$, where $a$, $b$, $c$ belongs to real numbers and $P(2)=9$. Let $\alpha$ and $\beta$ be the roots of the equation $P(x)=0$. If $\alpha$ approaches to infinity and $P'(3)=5$, then what is the value of limit where x is approaching to infinity $(\frac{P(x)}{5(x-1)})^x$? My ...

@Abcd Indeed. Also, if you find the handwriting hard to read, you can alternatively use "unclear what you're asking".
I've left a comment below your first linked post, addressed to the asker; if I've missed anything, please let me know.

Yeah, the comment is fine.

@Abcd Thanks for pointing this out. I'll return in a short while to see if the asker has made any attempt to translate the image into mathjax. They clearly know mathjax. If the asker doesn't make an attempt to math-jax-ify their questions, even if only one of them to start, I'll likely add a downvote, or two.

Oops, @DanielFischer I meant to say "Gracias!" to you. Smokey's non-human.

@amWhy Smokey may appreciate a little thanks nevertheless.

@DanielFischer True. I'll let my comment to "it" stand; but I wanted to thank you also for handling it so quickly.

No effort PSQ's, provides references for those who want to answer the asker's questions for them. Asker has over 1.4K Rep.
I'm thinking the asker of the question linked immediately above is trying to improve the post; has included references, explained a teeny bit more in a comment. I encouraged them to describe what they told me in their comment to me in their post. I can no longer delete my comment above. I'd just "wait and see."

@amWhy The question is now much improved (I see that you commented to say as much). I wish that all askers approached MSE with the attitude of that user.

@XanderHenderson Agreed!
@XanderHenderson See this non-question. 7 downvotes, only two close votes.

Does @downvoters ping the downvoters? That would be nice...

@XanderHenderson Unfortunately it does not, though, most of the time, I wish @upvoters would ping upvoters of extremely poor questions; but that doesn't work either! :/

That being said, one has the privilege of casting downvotes at a 125 XP, and cannot vote to close until 3000 XP. So it is possible, I suppose that those users lack the rep but did flag the question?

@XanderHenderson true, that could be the case, and heck, I'll take a downvote or a close vote, (or best, both, for those who can do both), on a question like that. Just don't let me see an upvote on it.

9:28 PM
Man... I'm almost tempted to go upvote it just to annoy you. :P
(Too bad that I already downvoted, and the chance to retract that has passed.)
:P

@XanderHenderson :P

This question is of low quality. It is unfortunate that a low rep user seems to have put a lot of time and effort into providing an answer.

@XanderHenderson I've flagged the user for moderator attention; she's asked many many more questions than the one's showing up on her profile; they've either been deleted by others, or by herself. Just to give the mods the opportunity to "warn" them, if they see fit.

Good to know. I had not noticed the user before today, and only saw the three questions in the profile.
