@XanderHenderson All that asker needs is confidence, and we're going to do our part in instilling that confidence by closing their question. :D

@MikePierce Hey, I gave some constructive advice before voting to close!

This is a duplicate of the same asker's earlier question here

I've tried. Can anyone else make heads or tails of the question?
@MikePierce This is the second time that I've elected to leave your question open.

3:25 AM
I'm not a wizard like Cleo, but I don't think that this question has a nice answer. It is also lacking any context indicating why it might have a nice answer. If I knew it were an exercise from a book, I might try a little harder, but Wolfram Alpha chokes on it, and there is nothing in that Fourier transform that screams out to me.

@XanderHenderson You know you secretly love that question. So deep, and which such insightful answers.

@user21820 I wonder if he's describing limit ordinals there.

@MikePierce Ugh... no.

@amWhy it is not clear to me if you noticed how old the post is (2013). Anyway I cast the final vote to delete.

@quid Thanks, @quid!

Here are a few questions I suggest be closed
oops, three and six are the same
And this question could be deleted. It was closed as too broad and doesn't really serve a purpose

@MikePierce done

@quid I'll just point out that if a mod deletes the question, it is slightly different in that regular users cannot vote to undelete. Meta: Which actions by moderators cannot be reversed by community?
If a post is deleted by regular users and some other users disagree with the decision, they can vote to undelete.
But I guess in most cases where somebody disagrees with deletion and want to undelete some post, they have better chances by mentioning the post either here or in the reopen/undelete request thread. So maybe if we look at things this way, it does not make much difference.
It is difficult to find the balance. (After all, we do not want to prevent mods from using the tools they were given.) Most likely, all moderators are aware that their delete votes are binding and they user them quite carefully.
If this was too much digression from the topic of the room, I do apologize. (And I will not complain if my messages are moved to Math Meta chat. But I guess it's needed only in the case that this discussion should continues much longer.)
Just to clarify, this was meant as a general comment, not as a comment to these two deletions. (And it is quite safe to assume that quid knows about this - after all, they posted the accepted answer in the meta thread I linked.)

5:02 PM
@MikePierce For this one, if you delete your answer the post will be auto-deleted.

5:28 PM
@amWhy Thank you!

@MikePierce I see so many even poorer question more recentlyly posted, which I tend to prefer to focus on. (I don't mean deleting instantaneously, but as for putting on hold, I try to target newer questions to put them on hold before they are answered. Older questions poor questions already answered are fine to target/get rid of too, but I have to prioritize where I think closures are most effectively applied.

o/ @quid, \o @XanderHenderson
/o\ (me hanging upside down)

7:46 PM
@quid Oops, no, I didn't catch the age of the post. Thanks for pointing that out.
Consider closure here, and here. PSQs

sup, @amWhy

@XanderHenderson supper? Oh, my, yeah, it's about that time! :P I'm good; how are you getting along (KNOWING THAT TOMORROW is FRIDAY!) :-)

11:09 PM
Friday is my shit day :(

@XanderHenderson Bummer...but then there's "after the shit" time?! I nice cold mug!?

Yeah, Imma get home tomorrow and start into a new bottle of 25 year old single malt

@XanderHenderson and you won't share with me? :D

Come over any time you like; scotch is better shared, and the wife hates it. ;)

@XanderHenderson heh!!

11:29 PM
@JohnMa Thank you! I assume that means it'll be auto-deleted after it's unactive for some time?
@amWhy Yeah, I gotcha. There are a lot of new low-quality questions. I'm curious how often you exhaust your daily supply of close-votes. :) I just checked and I'm allowed like 45 or something? It's been awhile since I've even read that many questions in a day.

@MikePierce I think it's like 50 close votes per day (but they are exhausted easily). I think votes (up and down) are limited to 30 per day. I've no hard and fast rule about the age of the posts. Just try to deal with the most "egregious" bad posts to close each day.

@amWhy My plan was to slowly go through old questions in a tag I like and answer some of the good ones that didn't get attention. Oh how I wanna be a Crusader. But some old questions just aren't good and should be closed/deleted. Would it be unwelcome here to post those poor questions here for closure/deletion?

@MikePierce I think the system is updated every week, and now that questions satisfies some criterion here. IIUC it will be autodeleted soon (within a week).

@MikePierce They're perfectly welcome here. I think most of us go back and forth, depending on how bad current/older posts seem to be. My comment earlier was primarily about where I saw things today.
