The second phase of the off-topic identification question rollout is starting now. We're going to have to go through a lot of them manually because I'm finding a few that are not id questions. I'm also just straight up deleting negative questions at this point with these tags as there's no reason to delay them from deletion.

@Dom Regarding keeping some identify questions around as having historical value ... I'd like to nominate one: Where does this famous rhythm pattern come from (oftenly used to knock on a door)?. 33K views, question score of 12, answers scores of 14 (and accepted) and 4, no downvotes. (There are some comments that could probably be deleted as no longer needed.)
There are also two linked duplicates, both with highly votes questions and (accepted) answers.
I think this question, at least, and maybe even the two duplicates, has clearly established itself as having significant value and deserves preservation.

A second nomincation: The "right here, right now" sample in "Right Here, Right Now". Highly voted Question (12) and Answer (11), has another question about the same song (16 votes, no answer), and arguably could be reclassified as something other than an identify* question. Clearly there's significant interest in the song itself. This one could perhaps be retagged and kept as a "live" question.

I really think it will be better for us in the long term to just get rid of all of them. From examples with music SE people can use a single question even if locked to justify and if people get here from an id questions that's what they'll most likely ask.

@Dom Understood. FWIW, I think the "Shave and a Haircut" question could be recast simply as a history question ("What is the origin of ..." rather than "What is ...", and the Fatboy Slim question could be similarly recast, perhaps as a lyrics question. Would my taking the initiative in that direction step on any toes?

Not in my mind as long as the answers themselves still make sense.
Like I said yesterday, there's actually some questions that are not id questions at the core, just mistagged.
