@Bebs Ah I see, thanks for clarifying.

Hi @Brahadeesh, I improve your edit suggestion here
https://musicfans.stackexchange.com/posts/979/revisions
removing misused tag is a great idea, but it would be even greater if you also improve the body if you can (fixing typos, removing useless apologies, "thanks" etc

user185131
@Bebs Oh, I'll keep that in mind, thanks for the heads up!

user185131
@Bebs I agree, the tags and are almost exactly similar in their scope.

user185131
@Bebs I was also wondering whether we should have a tag for hardware recommendations, since such questions don't appear to be off topic here.

user185131
I saw this Meta question you've posted about this topic, and Chris Sunami's answer does say that "music enjoyment equipment questions (record players, home speakers, etc.) ARE on topic here."

For example, this question that I've edited the tags for asks for such a recommendation.

@Brahadeesh In any SE, broad recommendations are off-topic since it's basically endless list or opinion based

user185131
@Bebs I understand "broad recommendations" to mean things like "what's the best so-and-so for my purposes", which I agree are off-topic everywhere. The question I linked seems more localised, and also (although I'm not sure) not badly received. Is there some middle ground that we are currently treading, then?

11:01 AM
maybe in that case it is on-topic
My meta question was about hardware support
I think hardware support should be dealt with the manufacturer or specialists forums

user185131
@Bebs I'll try to gather more data about how many such questions we have and what their statuses are.

user185131
It would be nice if we can pin down clearly what our scope is. Here's hoping :)

@Brahadeesh does the indian classical music concern only India, or can surrounding countries be concerned by this genre?

user185131
@Bebs My understanding is that it concerns only India. The music of neighbouring countries may share elements of the same tradition but they are now considered different genres.

user185131
For instance, some Iranian music has similar elements, but it does not fall under the umbrella of Indian classical music. Sufi music also has similar elements (maybe even a common ancestor, in some sense) but it is now easily identified as a separate genre.

ok, thanks

This recent question was tagged with by Chris Sunami. So far it is the only question with this tag, but a search for "epic" brings up 42 hits!

user185131
I only just found out that epic music happens to be an actual genre. I think this makes it reasonable to flesh out the tag's excerpt and wiki (so basically we ought to retain it). Additionally, can the old posts be tagged with this tag too now? I hope this won't induce a lot of noise on the front page.

@Brahadeesh Thanks for your work! It's always nice to have a new dedicated user on MF, we're such a small community here
@Bebs @Donald.McLean @Brahadeesh OK question of the day - what's some good music you've found through this forum? I asked this once before but that was probably a couple years ago
I've recently really been enjoying "Joan As Police Woman" who I had never heard of before I saw her referenced in a question here

@ChrisSunami Happy to join this community! I hope to see it grow much more :)

I haven't yet found any new music from here since I've been here only for a short while. Plus, my music listening is limited to Indian classical since I was learning to sing Carnatic music for quite a few years, and listening to different genres was affecting my learning process.
