I just noticed that a bounty (worth 500 points) was awarded here in order to “reward an existing answer.” Then (apparently) the user offering the bounty has deleted their account and the bounty was taken over by the Community user.
As I understand it, the bounty will now be automatically awarded to the highest voted answer that was posted after the bounty started (under some conditions), and not to the excellent old answer for which the bounty was intended.
I wonder if this is a situation where a moderator should clear the active bounty.
