@XanderHenderson @quid: I think I'm getting tired of this. See that harasser's just-updated profile page. I submit that linking to posts that deride other users should be banned. Last time, you (quid) told me that personal profiles are generally allowed to say whatever they want, but I now think that there is solid reason that such permissiveness is wrong.

The reason is that every time their comments get flagged and deleted, they simply reproduce it and link from their profile. Thus their offensive content remains on the site, violating the very policy based on which they were deleted in the first place.

While permissiveness may be tolerable in some cases, I think it is clear-cut that some users such as this one who deliberately and repeatedly harass many other users do not deserve such permissiveness at all.

Actually I don't understand why a user profile is not treated as a user post. The argument that it is less public makes no sense, because the profile is viewed more times than the vast majority of a user's posts! As an example, my profile has been viewed 14k times, more than 6 times the number of views on my highest-voted question and more than the number of views on my highest-voted answer. Ignoring that excuse, it has already been made clear that maligning individual users in a profile is bad:

Bottom line: The profile is supposed to be about that user, not a place to insult other users.

Well i have seen some users insulting moderators on their profile. So even mods are not spared. There should be some guidelines to control blatant insults on profile pages.
