I'll admit that the CW-post which is currently faq-proposed could do with some improvements. (I think that some of them were discussed in chat, but I'm not sure whether I would be able to find those discussions again.)
Should comment chains of the form: P1: You can do thing A and then get B. P2: Can you put that as an answer? and then P1 writes an answer in more detail
be flagged?
will mods delete such chains when they see them?
I wonder because I think I read at some point that you shouldn't flag comments for being "superfluous" but rather just for being abusive, but a chain of that form I had participated in disappeared, so I guess the comments must have been flagged by someone
@s.harp Yes. Comments are generally meant to be transient. The usual analogy is that they are similar to "post-it notes". When the issues being addressed do not exist anymore, they vanish to reduce noise.
