I would like to put on record here that I strongly object to Asaf Karagila's locking of my ancient meta question over my emphasis of the work "abstract" (which has been there since 2011). This action is particularly problematic since Mr. Karagila and I have had very strong disagreements in the past on many matters, esp. formatting matters (e.g. use of color). So I find this action to be highly biased considering past history.

@BillDubuque By my reading, the topic was quite inactive until you decided to edit the title to use MathJax for text formatting. Based on answers to this meta question, it appears that the consensus is that this is an inappropriate use of MathJax. Four distinct users tried to remove the inappropriate use of MathJax, and you reverted it every single time. It seems that locking the post to stop the edit war was an appropriate action

Moreover, the current state of the post reflects the apparent community consensus, hence locking the post in the current state likewise seems appropriate.
I see no evidence of persecution.

@XanderHenderson The point of the SE restriction is to prevent newbie abuse. We shouldn't be throwing out the baby with the bathwater merely to prevent such. The emphasis has been there since the question was posed over 8 years. I updated it recently after I noticed it no longer displays correctly. Locking it prevent me from updating the question with my current thoughts on the matter, which - not surprisingly - differ much from what they were 8 years ago. We'll have to disagree about "inappropriate".
@XanderHenderson I see no claims of "persecution". Please read more carefully. Also there is no such "community consensus". Stop imagining things...

@BillDubuque Let me rephrase: you stated "So I find this action to be highly biased considering past history." I see no evidence that you are being treated with bias (i.e. persecuted).

@XanderHenderson Persecute is much too strong a word to use there. Please let me choose my own words, And you weren't around for the early history so you shouldn't be making guesses about such ("I see no evidence"). There actuallu is plently

Ah, yes, the all-too-common "You haven't been around long enough to have an opinion". Okay. Whatever. Peace out.

What use do I have to the site ?

@XanderHenderson The point is simple. It is unlikely that you could have "seen the evidence" if you were not a member of the site way back then. That has nothing to do with your non sequitur inference that "you haven't been around long enough to have an opinion". I said nothing about your "opinion" (my emph) I'm not interested in opinions. I merely wished to register an objection on a particular "moderator" action.
The (my emph) is for the quote, but this braindead software won't let me edit it.

@RoddyMacPhee What use is the site to you?

6:52 PM
@XanderHenderson And, for the record, \textit occurs almost 2000 times on the main site, and many of them are in titles - going much further than the single word "abstract" that I emphasized. Yet more evidence that this defacement of my old post is biased (not to mention the additional extreme action of locking the thread, preventing further discussion of one of the most important meta topics on the site).

A way to not give up on math as a useless topic based on my families wishes.

@BillDubuque Dr. Karagila, if you must.
@BillDubuque As I wrote you elsewhere, I don't believe it ever worked. I might be wrong, of course. But to my memory Markdown was never enabled for titles.

@AsafKaragila You'd have to earn that first!

@BillDubuque I have received my Ph.D. officially on November 2nd, 2017.
