@AsafKaragila none yet; I'll let you know once I hear something.

2 hours later…
5:53 AM
@AlexanderGruber I'm reminded of a certain past moderator who joined the running out of the blue (literally couple of hours before nomination was closed), and then declined to answer the hard questions until they were elected (and then declined to answer them altogether). They're just waiting until the election actually starts, and then they can say "Oops! It already started, so..." :-P

6:13 AM
@MichaelGreinecker But I don't understand why the room got freezed again?

1 hour later…
7:19 AM
@BAYMAX Well, simply because nothing was posted there. Next time if you request unfreezing room, you should post at least something, to prevent it from getting frozen immediately.

Oh sorry, I was unaware of that, thanks for the info!@MartinSleziak

As a side note:
in Differential Topology & Differential Geometry Study Group, Apr 3 at 14:04, by Martin Sleziak
Since there is the room Geometry & Topology which is more general and BAYMAX created a separate room Differentiable Manifolds for the course they are currently studying, I'd say this room is no longer needed.
in Differential Topology & Differential Geometry Study Group, Apr 3 at 20:25, by John Ma
@MartinSleziak I agree. There's no need for 3 rooms with extremely similar theme. Even 2 is a bit too much IMO.

7:47 AM
Although the DT/DG Study Group has been frozen since then: chat.stackexchange.com/transcript/61560/2018/4/18

@amWhy no. It's not internal policy where there is wiggling room, it's a direct consequence of a law. I'll deal with it. Thanks for the heads up.
To be more clear, it is not that the site does not want any young users. It is that sites that allow users below a certain age (13) fall under a different set of legislative rules than sites that don't. Therefor we must be strict about this.

@quid I think you mean "therefore"? :P

@quid Thanks, @quid. And thanks for the clarification.

@AsafKaragila I wanted to save the e for ecological reasons. But there you spoiled it.
You are welcome @amWhy

@quid Oh. I'm sorry. Did I intrfr with your cological plans? I didn't man to.

@AsafKaragila Wll it's not a big dal.

2:08 PM
@quid hh, you say that now. Just wait until the ic caps mlt bcaus of all ths uslss lttrs w kp typing.

'll sav anothr on.
Lts d wth vwls. Sm lnggs cp fn wth tht.

@quid .tfl t thgr nttrw r sht tB

???
Oh I see now.

???

"But these are written right to left."

2:16 PM
I wrote "those", but same difference.

@quid Ahhh, I thought @Daniel was using sht to represent a particular word without vowels ... umm, errr, like shout! Yeah, that's it.

On a mathematics site, that would probably mean "sheet".

@AsafKaragila right, but I don't see how having more time to collect the questions would help. The point where more time could be useful is later, namely between nomination and election.
Or maybe for nomination.
Maybe I'll launch a thread for proposing candidates as is somewhat a tradition to have.

This reminded me of Bill Bailey's song about consonants (and vowels): youtube.com/watch?v=bFiUyfbyjbA

Also I need to finally write some other meta post...
Well I promised to write it on a weekend.

2:31 PM
@quid The point is not necessarily to collect more questions. Is to get more people involved.
Before the nomination starts.

2:43 PM
@DanielFischer That would be ideal. On this mathematics site, with all the low-quality posts and posts in need of deletion, and a word to describe such posts, I think a four letter word, with vowel removed which results in "sht", can mean only one word.

shoot

@DanielFischer Okay, that works too!

@amWhy I didn't realize you are such a potty mouth. :-)

@quid whaaaaaat? I meant "shut" (like close or delete, as necessary)! ;-)

Oh, so it gotta be me, the potty mouth.

Q: The inofficial 2018 nomination post

quidThere is a moderator election about to happen; we shall elect two new moderators that will reinforce the team. The procedure dictates that candidates self-nominate (this is not yet possible). However, experience has shown that some external encouragement can be useful, whence this thread. Some...

@quid Nice most on meta! Re: "Even if you do not like some nomination, try to be restraint about it." Consider either "try to be restrained about expressing it", or "try to show restraint about it." ? The only grammatical problem currently is with "be restraint".

Thanks I went for the show restraint, also I changed nomination to nominee, which is maybe more precisely what I mean. If somebody does not like the way how the nomination is presented it's a separate concern.
It's about the user nominated, but that was likely clear enough anyway.

3:29 PM
The posting of this meta "question" I think enhances the election process, especially encouraging for those potential nominees that are not necessarily "competitors" by nature, but have shown awesome potential to be great moderators, to gain user support through nominations and votes, enough to seriously consider running. (Being highly competitive does not necessarily equate to being a good mod.)
@quid The previous post of mine was in response to @quid's post on meta, allowing an avenue for users to offer external support for users they believe would make great moderators.

1 hour later…
4:56 PM
@DanielFischer Sorry to bother you, but it continues: Again 16 upvotes in 2 minutes :(

@MartinR Bad mistake. I'll deal with it after dinner.

5:52 PM
@MartinR Now the question is how determined they are to be a nuisance.

6:11 PM
@MartinSleziak Any thought's about tossing your hat into the ring (i.e. running for a moderator position) in the upcoming election? I thought I'd ask before nominating you on the unofficial 2018 Election nomination post. If you do not want run in an election at this time, I'll respect your decision; else, if you are yet undecided, then I'd like to nominate you, if you don't mind.

in Math Meta Chat, 2 hours ago, by Martin Sleziak
@AloizioMacedo Thanks for the suggestion. In any case, I definitely do not intend to run for moderator position.

@MartinSleziak Thanks for the link! It is sufficient for answering my question!

Thank you for asking first.

1 hour later…
7:31 PM
@MartinSleziak No problem. I'd never nominate you before checking with you, to learn what you're thinking on the matter.

2 hours later…
9:56 PM
@quid the serial-account-creator has made themself apparent, in their actions via yet another account.

@amWhy it's gone.

@quid Thanks, again!

You are welcome. Thank you for you vigilance.
