In a discussion in another room, it was pointed out to me that there are two pages with rather similar content: How to Ask and How do I ask a good question?.

The former is shown to a user who asks their first question and it was modified from the default version as a result of this: Show “how to ask” advice before a new user asks a question.

The latter is part of help center and is probably mod-editable. Would it make sense to make the same addition also to this page?

Ok, even if it not mod-editable and we need help from SE staff to do this, does it seem reasonable to include there at the beginning the same information? For the most part the two pages look almost identical (starting from "Search and research").

@MartinSleziak It does seem reasonable. Though that would make both pages identical except for the title, the search box in "How to ask" and the checkbox at the bottom of it.

It seems they look differently on SO: stackoverflow.com/questions/ask/advice and stackoverflow.com/help/how-to-ask

Yet the post on our meta says: "This page is already enabled on some other high-traffic sites (Stack Overflow and Server Fault among them), but not yet here."

On SF they are different too: serverfault.com/questions/ask/advice and serverfault.com/help/how-to-ask

Since SF allows questions by unregistered users, it can be checked easily that when asking question this one is displayed: serverfault.com/questions/ask/advice

It is certainly not a major issue, but maybe adding there similar test in our help center as we have in the page for new users might be useful...

Or maybe the two pages could look completely different from each other. I am not sure...
