Both terms are used and are synonymous, so the two tags should be made synonymous. I know it is sometimes done, but I don't know how. — Michael Hardy Jun 29 at 19:18
@MichaelHardy Any user who has score at least 5 in the (greatest-common-divisor) tag can suggest a synonym here. Then other users with sufficient score can vote for or against the synonym. But in this case I would expect moderators to do that since +16/-1 since for me like a clear sign of consensus. (If a moderator suggests a synonym, it is approved immediately, without need of votes from other users.) — Martin Sleziak 38 secs ago
The linked discussion is about and .
Since I have mentioned moderator in my comment, I thought that I should mention the issue also here.

It appears that many new users are not aware of the MathJax tutorial. Aryabhata pointed out in a comment that the existing link to it is not particularly prominent. I considered a proposal to add it to the tour of the site, but it doesn't seem to fit among the bullet items. Is there any other part of the tour that's mod-editable?

@1999 Only three parts of the tour are mod-editable. The intro blurb/elevator pitch ("Mathematics Stack Exchange is a question and answer site ... question about math."), the "Ask about..." list, and the "Don't ask about..." list.
(The example question can also be changed, but that's something a bit different.)

Um. Would this work in the intro?
> With your help, we're working together to build a library of detailed answers to every question about math. This site uses MathJax for typesetting mathematical formulas.
I understand there's sharp contrast between philosophical part "built and run by you" and practical part. But... what's wrong with having practical, useful information in an elevator pitch?

Could some moderator please take care of the gcd related tags. This is difficult for the cummunity to resolve, there are plenty of meta-posts, and the current situation is a complete mess since quite some time.

In brief, gcd is a synonym of divisibilty, while greatest-common-divisor is not and neither is highest-common-factor. Also least-common-multiple is not. Whatever one thinks is the optimal situation, I doubt anybody will think this is reasonable.
My preferred solution is to cancel the syn into divisibilty and to map everything into a to be created gcd-lcm tag; this proposal also has some support on meta.
Howver, I do not insist on this. I basically just want some coherent solution.
