@Peter "Basic" is not the same as "trivial". And the stated scope of Math SE is "all levels" of mathematics. So, no, there is not a "too basic" close reason, and, frankly, there shouldn't be.
A basic question, if presented appropriately, is entirely on topic.
Though there is a correlation between questions which are "basic" and questions which are not appropriately presented.
