I agree that self would be recommended in place of foo, helps other programmers with looking at the code — David White 56 secs ago

self is used as a placeholder basically. It isn't required that you use self, you could use "eeee" or "foo" or something else, it's just recommended for other programmers while reading your code — David White 56 secs ago

Your question is backwards. You should be asking: “Is there any reason to make methods static?” The presence of a lot of static methods is an antipattern typical of programmers accustomed to older languages. Think of the entire collection of functionality (all the methods) as a machine. An instance of your class is like one of those machines, sitting in a box on a store shelf awaiting use. — VGR 52 secs ago

A redirect by definition is a GET request. But it is possible, what you are looking for is a 307 Temporary Redirect see Why doesn't HTTP have POST redirect?. — Lankymart just now

D'oh! For some reason, ".gdbinit:1567: Error in sourced command file: Python scripting is not supported in this copy of GDB." I guess that I won't be using that .gdbinit; maybe I'll look for another (but what I am really looking for is a Windows GDB GIU) Thanks for your help (gdb) — Mawg 15 secs ago

For C programmers, hiding a pointer behind a typedef is widely considered bad style. In this special case, it might be justified because the pointer points to something unknown in C, so you could argue to provide just an "opaque handle". Still, strictly speaking, a "C++ struct" is different from a struct in C (think e.g. vtables), so I'd always pick the second option. — Felix Palmen just now

@Someprogrammerdude Asking help from C++ programmers is just as useful to me as D programmers. I tag C++ in my D questions because the answers are going to be basically the same, and I have a better chance of getting a C++ answer because of the increased popularity. — spikespaz 16 secs ago

@TomTom I'll do some research on SIMD. And as you said, the code is the same. Predefined distributions produce the different parameters for each Case. Unfortunately I'm not a software engineer. I'm a self taught programmer with a Chem Eng degree, so have a lot to learn — ceds 47 secs ago
