(5) Returning 0 on error seems like it's left over from some C code? In JavaScript you'd return null or undefined from a function that's supposed to return an object. I suppose this is a style issue but no JS programmers would return 0. (6) adding properties to WebGLObjects will crash if you ever want to handle context lost. ShellExecute[Ex] (an in-process shell API from shell32.dll) implements elevating via its "runas" verb. This is a convenience API, so Windows programmers don't have to directly deal with the complications of making a remote procedure call to a system service. The C#/Excel way of doing it is "correct" in that it is the mathematical way. Your grammar, as you say, puts "PLUS before MINUS". This is not the case in the order of operations used in standard modern mathematics. It is as follows: Bracketed Expressions -> Exponentiation -> Multiplication/Division (whichever comes first, left to right) -> Addition/Subtraction (whichever comes first, left to right). You are, of course, free to define mathematics however you want in your own language, but I would highly suggest using the standard form, as programmers will already be familiar with it. — tradeJmark 22 secs ago

Type-based aliasing may have offered some benefits prior to restrict, but I would think that the latter would in most circumstances be more effective, and loosening some constraints on register would allow it to fill in some of the cases where restrict wouldn't help. I'm not sure it was ever "important" to treat the Standard as fully describing all cases where programmers should expect compilers to recognize evidence of aliasing, rather than merely describing places where compilers must presume aliasing even when no particular evidence of it exists. — supercat 15 secs ago
