Yeah... Workarounds put the "engineering" in software engineering. You've got a system that won't give you the correct time before a Pause event, so cache it yourself manually. — VC.One 31 secs ago

OK but do expert programmers consider any specific way as good practice? Or are the same examples I might find on the internet some fantastic coincidence? Can you advise? — Just Learning 58 secs ago

basically currently, we have this that works and provides use with the proper gateway ip, hhowever we wish to use the wwan0 ip and we tried the above however we cant seem to make it work being non-c programmers int ac_get_ip(char * out, int out_len){ FILE *fp = NULL; if ((fp = popen("wget -qO- http://whatismyip.akamai.com","r")) == NULL) { printf("ac_get_ip: Error opening pipe "); return -1; } if(fgets(out, out_len, fp) == NULL) { pclose(fp); return -2; } pclose(fp); return 0; }user2888268 36 secs ago

What a blatant example of toxic UB exploitation by optimizing compilers. Compilers that take advantage of UB this way should output a proper diagnostic: potential undefined behavior interpreted as intended, just like some expressions involving operators with error prone precedence levels are flagged as potential programmers errors. — chqrlie 5 secs ago

@HashMap - Now that you tell me, it makes sense (Java + er). There are a lot of aspects of Computer Science. It's good to reach off in different directions. Java mostly hides bits and encodings from programmers. Encodings in bits and bytes is another dimension to learning Computer Science. — Rick James 42 secs ago
