I have this command

compA$ssh -N -R 40500:127.0.0.1:5900 root@IPofVPS

and this command

compB$ssh -v -N -L 1231:127.0.0.1:40500 root@IPofVPS

And from CompB, I connect TightVNC viewer to 127.0.0.1:1231 , TightVNC prompts me with a password, I enter it, and it connects to and views compA. But sometimes, TightVNC Viewer doesn't prompt me with a password.

@andrew.46 iirc win 9x will work on virtualbox
or was it VMware
you can probably run them atop wine as wlel?

win98 would run on either virtualbox or vmware.. virtualbox is free, vmware is considered better for having better networking capabilities. Vmware has a free version(vmwaer player), and a non free version(vmware workstation).

@barlop I vaguely recall win98 havingissues with some emulators
or was I getting it confused with OS/2 ....

not sure if i've run win98 on an emulator.. maybe could make a difference how old the emulator is though htoo.. e.g. if it was done in the XP days then it probably would have been no issue

@JourneymanGeek You would think that should be easy :). I have battled for hours with VirtualBox and VMWare Player with most variations of Windows with only patchy success...

@JourneymanGeek Probably OS/2 since it used ring 2 for drivers, IIRC.
