Q: Why do I get pinged even if they didn't wanted to ping me?

SomeoneSometimes, I ask OP for additional information with a comment like: Please [edit]2 your question and include the output of sudo apt update After editing the question, they post a comment like: I've edited my question They haven't pinged me with @Someone but I'm still getting pinged1. Why3 ? 1"...

@AskUbuntuMeta I got my answer on MSE

@Someone someone should probably just point out the answer there, and quote/paraphrase it

So on the "translating" topic, it's ironic. I came across Проблем с принтера ми Xerox Phaser 3020 that was translated, so I Googled "ask ubuntu" non-english questions. Ironically, if I'd just gone straight to Meta, I would have seen the most recent discussion.
But since it seems the policy/opinion has changed on the topic, I think the older results should probably be closed as a duplicate of this week's Is translating posts using Google Translate acceptable?.

@NotTheDr01ds Hello!
Someone suggested that my new question was a dupe of the old ones, and I said no, it isn't, as the answer on my question is much more clear IMO about the proper course of action. So I think the old ones should be dupes of mine, but I don't have a strong opinion on it

@cocomac Right -- That's exactly what I'm proposing. I think the old questions should be marked as dupes of yours. That way we direct people to the latest guidance, which seems to be "Oh-hell-no." The older questions all said that it was perfectly acceptable to translate.

@NotTheDr01ds Sounds good.I can’t now, but should I just flag it as a dupe, or is there a different alternative I should use because Meta is… special?
