@RandomPerson 'what do you mean catija isn't catija's real name?'

6 hours later…
6:48 AM
@JourneymanGeek "... my username here has become how I'm known and recognized, rather than my real name."
@RandomPerson Its a joke
ok.. I guess I am bad at understanding jokes 😅
There's even a :D at the end ._.
@JourneymanGeek well.. emoticons convey the intention.. but when one can't understand the context, the emoticons become meaningless..
BTW, please go through the table and make the necessary edits: meta.stackexchange.com/q/367906 @JourneymanGeek
7:12 AM
uh
Why me?
@JourneymanGeek Since you have posted few answers, I am not sure what would come under "community" in the table. That's why.
@RandomPerson But I'm not really the one maintaining the tables
I have a dozen other things to take care of
@JourneymanGeek Ok. Let me know what would be appropriate term for the "community" in the table for your answers.
I'm not really paying attention to that either so.... uh
Not the right person to ask either
7:30 AM
hmm. fine.

4 hours later…
11:42 AM
@RandomPerson I guess just asking questions, providing answers and helping people with Ubuntu is not enough to be considered part of the AU community. The important part it seems is hanging around Meta and chatting in chat rooms.
11:54 AM
@C.S.Cameron more that in context - the whole idea of an omnibus chart didn't exist, and I'm half certain it'll get taken care of at some point
And I've literally had my first full weekend in 2 months, and I've not got any more for a while, and I have stuff to take care of before I can take a look
@RandomPerson Now that I had time to take a look - both of those suggestions do cover the network as a whole.I'll update mine
@C.S.Cameron I am sorry. Context please?
..... assuming mine are there, and I can make any sense of how all that works .-.
and this is when I wonder why the suggestions arn't linked to the answers and wonder if I have the half an hour or so to fix it all :D
@JourneymanGeek I am sorry. I am unable to understand any one of you. Please be clearer.
@RandomPerson I'll take a look and update the chart on that question for my answers
But I feel like linking back to the exact answers on that table would be useful, if there's time to do it
@JourneymanGeek OK :)
12:03 PM
and by which I mean, its already done, unless I missed something .-.
@JourneymanGeek I'll do that.. probably after few hours..
Real life comes first :D
Or my pile of things that need doing ._.
@JourneymanGeek yup. I hope "Could we have Chat (and meta) on the sidebar?" is also for all communities.
Oh, absolutely
the 'old' website design had it on the old top bar
@JourneymanGeek True.
12:08 PM
which is how a lot of people found it
the new design uh....
@JourneymanGeek oh.. I didn't know that..
@RandomPerson I suspect that was at least a decade ago, maybe a little less
oh..
@C.S.Cameron Now that I re-read your message few times, I understood something. Are you saying that I am just spending time on Ask Ubuntu Meta and hanging in chat and not spending any time in Ask Ubuntu? Am I right or did I misunderstand you?
12:27 PM
@C.S.Cameron I presume you are busy.
Anyway, I will respond to your statement. Forgive me if I misunderstood your statement.
C.S.Cameron, you are part of the Ask Ubuntu community. Every user who contributes to Ask Ubuntu is a part of the Ask Ubuntu community.
12:41 PM
Contribution is a broad word. Asking questions and answering questions is contribution. Editing posts in AU, posting comments in AU, flagging posts/comments (properly) in AU, reviewing posts of AU review queues is also contribution.
Participating in Ask Ubuntu Meta is also contribution.
Chat is optional IMO. It's just a place to talk to people. But, chat can also be used in a productive manner to contribute to Ask Ubuntu. Example:

 Raiders of the Lost Downboat

Place to sail the open sea, and search out boats to take down....
All types of contribution are equally important IMO.
But unfortunately, not everyone can contribute in every possible way. Some ask questions, some answer questions, some comment, some flag, some edit (or suggest edit), some review, some participate in meta.
Some can contribute in multiple ways, some can only contribute in one way.
As I am not using Ubuntu much nowadays (as my PC is not working), I am not able to ask much questions. I don't answer much questions because I don't have much knowledge about Ubuntu.
I spend much time on Ask Ubuntu Meta and that's my way of contributing :)
Also, when I was a new member of the Ask Ubuntu community, I noticed that Ask Ubuntu Meta was not much active. Also, AUGR was not much active. I was saddened by this.
So I tried my best to make them (both AU meta and AUGR) active. But I am not sure if I was successful.
I also used to spend time reviewing posts in First posts review queue. It was my way of contributing :)
But the new review queues (First questions and First answers review queues) had lots of bugs. So I didn't review much in these new review queues.
Also, the Is Ask Ubuntu sponsored by Canonical? question had some unintended consequences which made me sad.
So I didn't spend much time in reviewing posts after those consequences.
And lots of stuff are happening in real life.. so I couldn't focus much on reviewing posts/contributing to Ask Ubuntu.
Anyway..
Just asking questions, providing answers and helping people with Ubuntu in Ask Ubuntu is more than enough to be considered part of the Ask Ubuntu community.
All types of contribution are equally important.
C.S.Cameron, I reiterate. You are a part of the Ask Ubuntu community. I thank you for your contribution.
Thanks to all the AU contributors <3
1:51 PM
@RandomPerson My dinner is ready. This looks like an interesting post I'm sure I will have some comments in the morning. I am thankful for your contributions.

1 hour later…
3:08 PM
@RandomPerson @JourneymanGeek huge +1 to that request
I got a soap box, I use it 😁

2 hours later…
5:31 PM
@C.S.Cameron Will be looking forward to your comments. You're welcome :)
@Zanna 👍🏽
@JourneymanGeek Is this what you mean by soapbox: "a rough wooden box or any raised, temporary surface for people to stand on while making informal public speeches"? I guess it has a figurative meaning in the context..
lol
to me, loosely, to be on a soapbox is to advocate for something, probably at some length. But I think JMG means that he has extra influence on MSE as a moderator, and the influence causes him to be able to stand a little higher than others in the crowd (like a crate one might stand on at a gathering such as a protest) and thus command more attention
@Zanna Thank you for the meaning :)
*as a moderator and widely respected person
@RandomPerson most welcome... I hope I am correct
:S
5:59 PM
well, soap box has a completely different meaning in the Indian context I guess..
6:39 PM
@JourneymanGeek I have tried my best.. meta.stackexchange.com/review/suggested-edits/79373
