12:26 PM
is this as bad an idea as it looks to be?

12:50 PM
@Zanna I would never run it; but what is interesting is the end of the line: fixed terminal I did not know that chmod could take such arguments / options... (probably invalid)

I don't think that's supposed to be part of the line
I'm interested in the intentions of the poster, whether that could really do anything, and what bad things it could cause to happen
answers on a postcard please
also:
I was hoping that wouldn't be the case...

I mean I was hoping the system would stop me from doing that
I guess I'll have to stop me instead

Setting everything to read/write everyone is a bad idea
@Zanna oh
I kinda did a few hundred reviews a day :D

@JourneymanGeek this is a character device and it should have no permissions. I doubt any permission change would persist

12:57 PM
ah oops

@JourneymanGeek o.O
we need reviewers here :D

@Zanna oh there was a tweak in how the system added reviews
so we had... a lot

it added a lot more at once?

@JourneymanGeek when was that?
@JourneymanGeek oh hmm maybe that's why there are so many

To begin with, `chmod`-ing stuff in system directories is already an interesting topic ("do it only if you know what you are doing")
--> On top of that, I would take it for a hint that the person couldn't even write the command properly.
--> That speaks for their expertise, and indicates for me, how much trust I should put into that answer.
--> (zero)
--> In theory, one could use it though for further web searches, to confirm the premise via other sources...
