@Benny Hey! I suppose it's because systemd services are preferred now. I found this relevant article and, from what I understand, rc.local, while deprecated, still works, but not exactly as before. Now a generator exits that converts the commands in rc.local to systemd services. So you are actually running systemd services.

@David I did, but I thought that replying with humor could be misinterpreted, so I used a more literal reply. Usually, I don't use too much humor here, since due to the chatting's nature and the language barrier things can be very easily misinterpreted and lead to misunderstandings, which is something I don't want.

@David From what I recall, no one has said that you shouldn't help nor that you don't have the right temperament, but that you (and everyone really) should be extra careful about the way that you point out the mistakes of someone or request info from them. No one should be offended after all, and as I said before, it's easy to misunderstand someone or their intention when online.

I am using rc.local and it works fine.

But I was needed to enable the rc.local to be supported, So I wonder if I should use a different way.

for my purpose I started using sysfsutils instead

I actually saw it in a little lecture I attended... not many people seem to know about it

@Benny what I understand from what I have read is that rc.local still works, but the commands in it now get converted to systemd services. I suppose it is disabled by default in order to discourage its use and encourage the use of systemd services. Perhaps it will be completely removed in the future. As Zanna said however, since it works for your purpose, there is no point in making your life harder and not using it.
