having ubuntu installation issues. Not sure how to extract logs from that machine so I can use them to get more help from another machine
opened a terminal during installation process, and cat /var/log/syslog shows what I probably want to share, but how? wget and wifi is working just fine on that machine

the installation is on an Acer Nitro 5, gets stuck at "almost finished copying files" for over 40 minutes
secure boot mode is disabled, fast boot mode too, using AHCI mode, tried adding nomodeset in the grub menu, although the line is different than what I saw online: linux /casper/vmlinuz file=/cdrom/preseed/ubuntu.seed maybe-ubiquity quiet splash ---. Usually the --- are not there. Last time I added nomodeset right after splash, now I'll try after ---
