@technastic_tc yes, sorry, I was trying to make a joke based on the fallacy that things you prepare for don't happen, and things that you don't prepare for do (for example, the one day you forget your umbrella is the one day it rains)
@technastic_tc both days. They declared 25th holiday on 24th, and 26th holiday on 25th

@Zanna OK. Got it!
@Zanna oh.. ok.
How's the situation now? I hope you and @jokerdino are safe and fine.

7:11 AM
@technastic_tc Thanks, I am fine :) Nivar spared Chennai. Still windy and wet but nothing dramatic. All reservoirs and groundwater full.

4 hours later…
11:05 AM
@Zanna You're welcome :)
Did the power infrastructure get damaged?

11:16 AM
@technastic_tc not here as far as I know. Only small scale debris on the road - small twigs and seed pods from the trees. But elsewhere possibly

I don't know what it was like in Pondicherry or those parts of TN interior or Andhra Pradesh the storm crossed after landfall. The last forecast I saw from IMD showed a track that went more north than west and missed Karnataka altogether. But I got distracted by household matters after that

ok.. I guess people of Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh have been experiencing more and more cyclones in this decade..
there was Hudhud, Gaja, etc.

11:48 AM
seems so yes :/
and that worsening trend seems likely to continue. Climate change brings instability, extreme weather etc
Recently watched David Attenborough's short film A Life on Our Planet and he emphasised that our game-changing invention (in that it allows us to produce enough food to support huge populations), agriculture, was possible because of, and is highly dependent on, the climatic stability of the last several thousand years

question.
What is if I'm not sure my answer is a little bit dangerous and I warn before is this okay?

@nobody Warning is good. Testing and finding out if it is in fact dangerous is even better.

@Zanna :(

someone will let you know sooner or later if your answer is dangerous XD
but yes I agree with terdon

@terdon I hope the second sentence is sarcasm.

12:01 PM
@terdon I test it and for me it works. But what about later

@nobody It would be better if you give us some more context. Can you show us your answer?

I have not posted yet it is draft.

you could put it in here

@technastic_tc Not at all. If you think it is dangerous, then you should find out before posting an answer.

12:12 PM
:)

@terdon I do not have the ppa for longer on my system. I integrade it only for the question, because I found it interesting.
and I can repair my apt and dpkg.
the most time :)

@nobody Yes, I was talking about the general case. Here, I think you're fine with the disclaimer.
Just, you know, don't pull a terdon...

A: Are there any memes on Ask Ubuntu?

I give him another big warning.

3 hours later…
3:01 PM
@terdon I was thinking that the OP of question must test the steps mentioned in nobody's answer and find out if it is dangerous..
I understood your statement in a wrong manner. My bad!

I expand my answer and show him another way.

3:13 PM
spam flags required.

@Kulfy deleted :)

Excellent. Thanks.

Welcome :)
But the code in the spam question was about what?
the comments in that post were weird..

@technastic_tc They were NSFW photos.

it was code right? How are they photos?

3:17 PM
They are spamming the site since past week.

@Kulfy oh.. really? So the account can be banned right?

@technastic_tc It had <img> HTML tag
@technastic_tc Well they are creating numerous account.

I have no idea how the <img> HTML tag works.. Will it display photo instead of code if posted by a user with more than 10 rep.?

The code had 4 space indentation. That's why it was formatted as code. If there weren't any indentations, you would have seen images.

Sigh. That's a known troll. Very mild for them though, those were just three softcore images of women in underwear. not even particularly shocking or anything

3:58 PM
@Kulfy I'm glad that it was formatted as code. Or else things would have become way more crazy..
@terdon Why isn't it shocking?
@Kulfy :(
There are some bots right which are capable of dealing with these kinda stuff?

Yes. Smokedetector. But still some manual flags are needed.

@Kulfy ok..
What about IP addressess of these spamers? Any clue was found out?

"Keto" posts are the one which disappear in seconds.
@technastic_tc IP addresses are private data. Only SE know about that.

@Kulfy mods do know right?
@Kulfy I have no idea what the "Keto" posts are..

@technastic_tc I don't know. I have been never a mod 🤷
@technastic_tc They are some type of dietary supplements.

4:05 PM
@Kulfy oh.. ok.

@technastic_tc eh, I was expecting far more graphic imagery. What was posted could have been on TV for an underwear ad almost.

@terdon lol..
@terdon "don't pull a terdon".. haha!

5:08 PM
yeah... sigh

@terdon I'm just curious to know. Since you were multi-site mode some time ago.. I want to know, how tough is it to moderate more than 1 site..

5:51 PM
@technastic_tc Eh, it depends on the site. AU is one of the most active sites of the network, so AU had more "work" than my other two combined. My third was Bioinformatics which is tiny, and had next to no work at all.
Unix & Linux is medium: quite large, but not a lot of moderation work involved.
The really impressive ones are folks like Chris who's a mod on 5 sites and, most importantly, one of them is SO which is a full time job by itself!

@terdon That's a lot of work!

6:04 PM
I'm cold.

6:36 PM
Hi cold
@terdon and MSE can be a pain in the rear

@JourneymanGeek Yeah. I'd guess MSE is second after SO when it comes to mod work.

7:03 PM
config touchpad is in lubuntu a pain.
