Q: how to divide traffic packages between two sub-interfaces in Linux

MiladWe Have one main physical interface, for instance, "eth0" and we have two inside Linux sub-interfaces "eth0.1" and "eth0.2". We have some traffic on eth0 and we want to dive traffic packages randomly and give half of them to "eth0.1" and another half to "eth0.2". For Example if we have 10Gbps ...

Q: Filter specific Notifications in Gnome 3.34.2

Thomas Christopher Daviesgenerally I like the notifications in gnome. But there is one notification which annoys me really badly. I use the gnome extension "caffeine", which disables auto suspend. Each time I enable caffeine I get a notification for auto-suspension and screensaver is disabled. This also happens when I p...

@andrew.46 Since I was one of user who rolled back your edit in past which made the question on-topic, therefore, I'm investing my 2 cents here in chat.
I do agree with Zanna's comment and would discourage such actions. This might act as an argument for new users or other users for future questions that if the above mentioned can become off-topic by editing why can't newer ones. Why can't we make room for Mint or Elementary questions which applies to Ubuntu as well, for example, kernel related issues!
I'd be rather happy to see this question migrated to U&L and a new Q&A which specifically mentions Ubuntu.

@MathCubes I haven't heard of mergerfs. I've learned something about unionfs and aufs. As far as I know, aufs is preferred solution in Ubuntu. unionfs is outdated. But nowadays, overlayfs is the one that's being used everywhere and included in the kernel AFAIK

Q: Why does gawk think 2.0e-318 > 2.0?

HerpDerpingtonI am trying to find the maximum value of a column of data using gawk: gawk 'BEGIN{max=0} {if($1>0+max) max=$1} END {print max}' dataset.dat where dataset.dat looks like this: 2.0 2.0e-318 The output of the command is 2.0e-318 which is clearly smaller than 2. Where is my mistake?
