Q: Random short CPU spikes and short PC freeze

Elonas MarcauskasI am having problems with Linux on my PC. I am facing issues with CPU usage I believe. The issue persists with short CPU spikes causing my PC to freeze for short periods of time, around 1 second. And this happens pretty randomly. Watching YouTube or a movie using VLC, using a code editor such as ...

I want to reopen this question so that I can post another answer to it.

@karel It isn’t a dupe? Why? You should add a comment explaining why it should be reopened.

You can call it whatever you want, but I've been using this question as a duplicate link (for 7 questions so far) in situations where How to remove Ubuntu and put Windows back on? is not a good enough duplicate question. For those who consider it to be a duplicate question anyway, it can be reopened and then closed again one day after it is reopened.

@karel Reopen wish come true

@karel Why not just post the answer on How to remove Ubuntu and put Windows back on?

@EliahKagan I've been using this question for situations where How to remove Ubuntu and put Windows back on? is not specific enough to hit the target (7 questions so far). I don't like to duplicate close vote to incomplete questions, so I posted another answer to this question to fill in a gap. I have no objection to reclosing this question again now that I have posted already posted an answer to it.

could that question have been merged into the one we just reopened?

Not in my opinion because the answer that was posted there is incomplete and I'm not sure that I could get away with making such a fundamental edit to it.

ok :)

11:12 AM
After the better answer is posted we can still reclose as duplicate so no harm no foul right?

11:28 AM
if it needs answers we shouldn't close it

@WinEunuuchs2Unix I'm not going to be a jerk and discuss quantum computing, but this particular question is one that may be specific enough to close another question of that type as a duplicate. Otherwise if I send the user to "How to remove Ubuntu and put Windows back on?" he'll try the first answer and if it doesn't work we'll have to reopen the question again. This is not quantum mechanics, it's modal logic.

@karel My take is @Zanna famous reference "Signpost" for duplicates. Some people may read the duplicate answers and not click on the original. In that case having a great answer on the duplicate is benefitial.

Since it's modal logic closing the question as a duplicate is right, not closing it as a duplicate is right, both are right and neither is right all at the same time. I have no objection to whatever the reviewers decide about what to do with this question.

I won't spend a lot of time dwelling on it. Got bigger fish to fry :)

Q: What is the correct command for installing etcher (or its image) to debian, 32-bit?

hddfsck777Trying to install etcher. I have a command for it, but it appears to be for 64-bit (ie: "amd64.deb"). I changed the 64 to 32 in the command line, but it does not work. I spent 3-hours trying every command I could find online, but have not been able to get it to install/run. I have the 'AppImage'...

Q: Logic behind losing reputation on removed edited question

guillermo chamorroBefore marking this as duplicate, take into account that my question is the reason why, not the cause of it, which is what the answer address, not explainig why this mechanism is in place. This doesn't even mention it. Editing a question takes time and effort (relatively) which is prized with p...
